Miguel Vasquez: what's the deal?!

To be fair, Martinez is not that good and Katsidis was finished. Guerrero put on a horrible beating against Katsidis, which should have been the end of his career before stepping in with Burns. You could have similar doubts about Mitchell too, who isn't world class at all.

I like Burns, don't get me wrong, but the people he has proved himself against are nowhere near the class Vazquez is. That's not to say Burns will lose though, of course.

 

Talk all you want about Burns but he is in no way the same league as Broner.It would be a total mismatch.Burns is doing the right thing-avoid Broner at all costs and claim manditory defenses or unifications in order to by pass Broner.

Not much to know, technically he is ok, but he is totally feather fisted, probably the lightest hitter with a title, so a great match for Ricky. It will go the distance, Ricky will outbox him though

 

Maybe valid but who has Vasquez beat that is close to Ricky? Prescott is probably one of his top wins, Mitchell beat him and Ricky beat Kevin.

Swings and roundabouts, I still think Ricky doesn't get acclaim he deserves.

 

You can't say cause Prescott took him close and Mitchell beat Prescott and Burns beat Mitchell that he is a guranteed winner. This will be a good fight I do think it will be a late stoppage to be honest with you. I think Burns will pick him off and we will get a British stoppage in the tenth onwards

I didn't say that! I said if Vasquez' best opponents include Prescott, who Mitchell beat. Where are his wins that are as good as Ricky? I never said this was easy, or guaranteed win but Vasquez level of wins are by no means intimidating.

Quintero, Prescott, Gesta, Attah, Kim and Ameth Diaz are prob best wins. Who there is in Ricky's league?

Would I back Mitchell against most of those, after seeing him beat Prescott. Yes, I would. Vasquez is a boxer who has yet to outbox a boxer, or outsmart another smart fighter. If he does that to Ricky. Huge credit!!!!!

 

Vasquez has no 'engage-gene'. He won't engage even if you diss his family, he's just that committed to what he has to do alone to win the fight, whether it be the shittiest fight of the century or not. I really don't like his style, but he's very effective with what he does. Burns hasn't faced anybody like him, with movement and Vasquez won't be coming to him, Burns will, which I haven't seen Burns do so much.

Like that wasteman IB said, jab and the movement will be all too much. It'll be a very uneventful fight.

I do agree with what your saying. I think Vasquez was the weakest link tbh with you. I think he could have a good fight after that with Abril or Bogere with that putting him in a stronger position against Broner.

 

itll sound like a strange comparisson and ill prob get slated for it, vazquez reminds me of hopkins in the way he backs away waits for the perfect time o land his punch then holds and spoils like ****, obviously not in hopkins league like but hes very good at what he does, his lateral movements great and he has a good job but he cant punch for toffee.... Vasquez should win but.....................

Vasquez is the best fighter Burns has faced and he is also a dramatic style change. its a huge challenge for both Burns and Nelson.

Agree but general consensus is Ricky hasn't faced a Vasquez, ditto, Vasques hadn't faced a Burns. I'm not claiming it won't be tough, just don't think it'll be walkover a lot of people on various boards are predicting.

Frustrating seeing Ricky constantly written off, nobody on this thread but in general. Most people only seen Burns highlights, and don't even know how he fights. A poor 'Ricky Hatton' one of better comments.

Vasquez is good, difficult fight but I think Ricky beats him and may even outbox him
