Round 3

Joyce is landing nice counters, the right hand whipping around into the left half of Gibson's face and then swiveling underneath to dig into his ribs. Joyce is working the jab from outside as Gibson claws out at him, exceeding his grasp. Joyce misses a few jabs as Gibson ducks back and bounces himself off the ropes. Triple uppercut by Joyce!! Gibson is hurt, languishing on the ropes, trying to cover up as Joyce continues the assault with carefully picked spots upstairs with his straight right. Gibson breaks into a light leftward run.

All three judges have it 30-27 to Joyce.

 

Round 4

Joyce is stepping widely around Gibson and waving his fists around in overlapping circles between jabs. Gibson drops his arms to lure him in. Right hand by Gibson. Joyce is boxing tall, landing the 1-2 from across the gap. They close together, and Joyce dissuades Gibson from lingering inside with a BIG right uppercut to the bottom of the chin. More of the 1-2 by Joyce. Gibson is tossing light shots from the hip while backing up, barely able to hold a guard together. Joyce is hesitant to move in for the kill, maybe wary of a trap.

All three judges have it 40-36 to Joyce.

 

Round 5

Joyce is putting in the jab, a bit lazy, and Gibson loops in some counters. Short rally by Gibson while circling close hurling in boulders. Joyce drives him back with a sharp 1-2. Joyce feigns an uppercut to the body and instead curls the right hand past Gibson's guard and crashes it into his left ear. Gibson backs up and loosens his defenses, eating a jab, to stuff a left hook through, only grazing. Joyce is pinning the jab to his nose like a tail on the donkey. Gibson isn't even bothering to defend himself with anything more than backward plodding. Arms hanging limp. Joyce is barely sitting on his punches, just touching Gibson with light scoring jabs and reach-in rights. A few ducking body shots by Gibson in the final ten seconds.
