With modern training and nutrition, Joe Louis stops Wlad, that picture doesn't do Louis justice.

Straight head to head, its obviously Wlad.

But I dont like comparing fighters from generations that far apart.

George Best was one of the great soccer players, but would he survive in the modern premiership while smoking at half time, and turning up most days hungover?
    No.

Didn't Billy Conn, who weighed like 174 lbs outclass a prime Louis for like 13 rounds 'til he got caught? Like Ali, Louis has reached ridiculous folklore status. The legend exceeds reality.

Nah, Conn-Louis was close, Conn didn't outclass him at all. In fact, if Conn had somehow survived the 13th, I still think Louis would have got him on the cards.

So the, the legend of Conn seems the one to be the one whose legend is exceeding reality.

I'll have to pull it up on youtube, but I remember Conn giving Louis all kinds of trouble, probably winning almost every round and could've won if he didn't get too cocky at the end and try to KO Louis and get caught. It has been about ten years since I saw it, though.

Louis doesn't have the footspeed nor the reach, nor the chin to reach Wlad.
He would have to go through Wlad his punches to reach him because he wasn't a bob and weaver kind of guy, Louis wasn't known as iron chinned so Wlad takes this with "ease"

Marching through punches was never a part of Joe's MO. At all.

This fight is much more interesting than that, thankfully. Naunced and difficult. Wlad has the style advantages and the physical advantages, with one crucial exception - Joe can take out Wlad with one punch, but if he lands it he won't just land one punch.

When has Wlad ever been taken out with one punch? (out not just down)
And how much of Louis his sharpness would remain with big gloves?

He doesn't have the footspeed, or the reach to land before Wlad lands

When did Wladimir ever meet a puncher like Louis?

Why are they boxing with modern gloves?
