I didn't compare Ross to Joe... Why aren't any of todays fighters using any of these modern training techniques??? I sure as hell don't see it in the ring....especially at heavyweight.. Ya'll need to watch this and LEARN something: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R78hdxpRfws
Why are you showing me this Bullitt? I'm a big fan of Joe Louis infact he is my favourite heavyweight of all time, iv'e seen pretty much every video there is to see of Louis on the net. I don't understand why you are arguing with me when we both agree Louis beats Wlad :huh the modern strength and conditiong and nutrition i mentioned did not mean that it would improve his skills or techniques in the ring but make him more powerful, heavier and better conditioned to actually compete physically with todays big heavyweights. For example look at Holyfield's strength and conditioning regime which took him from being a 190lbs cruiserweight to being the very muscular 215lbs heavyweight that beat Tyson twice.
Louis didn't need to close the gap all the way, he'd fient coming closer then pounce with a combo , connecting with every shot. Wlad is open to so many counters he clams up, hesitates to throw and gets chopped down. Wlad fights guys who are weak and stay on the outside. Where is the blueprint of him beating a great like Louis?
I'm watching Conn pretty much outclass Louis on youtube right now, and man, Conn looks like a middleweight. Louis would get murdered by Wlad.
Had Conn somehow made it out of the 13th, he would have needed to have won either the 14th or 15th to win the title. It was close. Nobody out-classed anybody.
Based on one fight? Well in that case Wlad was KTFO 3 times so Louis would wipe the floor with him. (Louis vs Conn was a close fight with Conn edging it until Louis caught him, nobody was outclassing anybody)
Even if this fight was close as you say, Louis still had trouble with a very small guy for 13 rounds. Unless Wlad has a stroke during this mythical mathchup, Louis doesn't make it past two or three rounds at best.
I'd favour Louis over every heavyweight with serious chin issues. He's far too good of a punch to not land, and when he does, Wlad wouldn't take it well.
And absolutely no trouble with guys closer to Wlad's size for round after round after round. I have no idea why you think Joe's brutal KO of Conn holds the secret to unlocking a fight with Wlad, but you're entitled to your opinion.
No, he was fighting on the inside most of the fight, back and forth, he just got caught flush with a peach and stopped. That's the biggest myth, him getting cocky and deciding to trade, of the footage that exists that doesn't look like the ebb and flow of the fight.
