I personally feel Calzaghe takes this one. How can anyone beat a guy who throws 100 punches a round? Ward would tire towards the end of the fight like he did against Froch, and Calzaghe would widen the gap even more. Honestly speaking, are there any middleweight fighters that could rival the stamina of Calzaghe apart from Robinson and Leonard?
Difficult to say, Ward is more classically skilled and whilst lacking power he has accuracy and intelligence. Calzaghe matches him in intelligence and beats him in adaptability and stamina. Perhaps is slightly unconventional style would work against Ward. My gut feeling is a SD fo Calzaghe, mainly due to workrate.
I think if anyone could work out Calzaghe it would be Ward. But, Calzaghe's timing and 100 punches a round would steal any close rounds. Could Ward land 100 counter's each round? I doubt it....
It does turn into a flame war, but this matchup really fascinates me. The reason people say Ward is because the majority of the people on this forum are Americans and always go for Jones, Hopkins, Ward etc ahead of any of the Europeans.
Firstly, did I say that this fight was happening? atsch Secondly, stop following these myths. Your referring to Calzaghe beating Hopkins and Jones. But, how do you know that Calzaghe did not offer to fight them before? You are just listening to the people that spread these pathetic lies. I bet you are one of the people that defend Ward for when he refuses to leave the USA to take on fights, yet Calzaghe did the same as he was the champion for 10 years, a feat that Ward will not achieve...
Obviously this fight can't happen now and your thread surely isn't about Calzaghe now, it's about both in their primes. If both are in their primes this fight won't happen either because Calzaghe would do what he did best in his prime and both of us know what that was.
Oh please! This has got to be one of the funniest Calzaghe posts ever and trust me there's a lot of them because the only ones that support him are 3 fans who also happen to be Kessler lovers. Ward's record as of today, which only took 26 professional fights, wipes the floor with Calzaghe's entire career. I'm not even being biased or trying to be, if you can't see that you must have issues. When you have 46 professional fights and the only names worth mentioning are Lacy and Kessler, you have problems.
I like how you didn't mention Jones or Hopkins etc. Every real boxing fan (not the majority of the ESB sheep that think anyone with 1000+ posts only posts facts) knows that Jones ducked Calzaghe after he won the WBO belt against Eubank.... Your hero Jones was also ducking Liles the same time if you fancy Googling it. :good
