Arum wouldn't have made Cotto-Mayweather in 2008 though. If he beat Margo he would have fought Hoya to close out 2008. If he beat Hoya then Cotto would have been one of the biggest PPV attractions in the sport giving Arum tons of power and options. Cotto would have probably gotten a fight with Hatton next. Then after those 2 winnable fights to make him a superstar. This is when Arum would start forcing guys to join his stable in order to get a big money fight with Cotto. If Cotto stayed on top he probably wouldn't have fought Mayweather until 2010.
Floyd was advised by his physician to either retire or take a lot of time off... Mosley wanted no parts of Floyd going all the back to when he was at 135 and Mayweather at 130.. Cotto just admitted that Arum NOT ONCE mentioned a Mayweather fight with him.... The same with Margarito......ARUM COULD HAVE EASILLY MADE THAT FIGHT:deal Arum wanted to pay Floyd LESS for Hatton than Margarito Would YOU fight Hatton for less than Tony????????:hi: As far as his stock being higher..... It's already high...he's considered the best by his PEERS in the sport...that's all that matters...
What has Alvarez done to deserve a fight with Mayweather? Seems like Canola can fight Martinez or somebody like that if he wants to be somebody...
Big interms of Boxing Legacy? Yea he missed out on some good fights for whatever reasons..... Monetarily though....the guy is making 50 mill or better a fight damn near.
Couldn't agree more. WTF would an ATG like Floyd care about some ****ing random internet blogger's (all of us) opinions of him when he's got guys like PFP #2 Andre Ward calling him "the master". Floyd gets the respect and credit he deserves from his peers. His public perception is clearly not as favorable. But his only real detractors are PEDquiao fans, so whatever
Have you guys heard the wisdom of the old Grandmother? The story goes like this. There was an old Grandmother on her death bed in the hospital, and she had a terrific recipe for macaroni & cheese. Her Mac & chesse was all the rav at family get togethers, and with her deteriorating health family members wanted to know what her secret was, in other words, what made her mac & cheese so great. Since Grandma was passing away, she figured the least she could do was give them recipe before she passed. Before she took her last breath she reached of to her son and said, "the secret to my Mac & cheese was, I never made enough". I believe Mayweather does this, whether you like or dislike him, he always leaves you wanting more, and as much as this irritates both sides, it hasn't seemed to hurt his earnings. In fact it seems he continually record higher and higher paydays.
well said but again, that also subscribes to the philosophy of fringe promoters like frank ******, who consciously builds up paper champions who rarely, if ever, fight anyone with a pulse. it's the same theory, and it's allowed to happen because the federations are there to be manipulated
Amen People act like Cotto and Margarito are vital to ones ATG credentials.. Floyd would have got ZERO credit for thrashing Margarito around the ring like a rag doll... Bryan Kenny said Floyd was going to duck Baldomir...:rofl Cotto just said himself that Arum not once mention a Mayweather fight to him...but soon as he left Bob he got Mayweather...
