A lot of people felt his KO of Spinks was his best performance but you could argue Spinks was physically shot with bad knees. I think Tyson's KO of Biggs was his best performance and his effectiveness, not his physical prime, started to go steadily down from there. [yt]cHpKpidg3mc[/yt]
He had none, bottom line is beating up cab drivers, light heavyweights or old men way past their prime is far from impressive.
His 3 best performances are probably his destruction of Spinks, the brutal finish on and Pinklon Thomas, and the Holmes KO (especially considering that's Holmes' only stoppage loss, and would stay a world-level HW for years afterward, being competitive with Holyfield, almost beating McCall, and tooling Mercer all after his KO loss to Tyson.)
You certainly have to put the Berbick fight on the list, seeing as A: Tyson completely demolished Berbick, and B: He became the youngest champ in history by doing so. I've always like the Razor Ruddick fight. - Not because Tyson looked great, it was sort of an ugly fight, but because Ruddick gave one of the best performances AGAINST a prime Tyson. Tyson really had to work for that win. ------------------- Other favs: Tony Tucker. - Tysons lightning reflexes on full display. - Plus an incredible performance from OUTSIDE, against a tall fighter with excellent defense of his own. Pinklon Thomas- Absolutely amazing combinations by Tyson, in another tough fight. IMO this and the Berbick fights are Tyson's most impressive performances. Spinks? OK, but it wasn't even a challenge. Mike had that fight won before the bell even rang. I can't put the Holmes fight on the list, as good as Tyson looked, because A: I don't like even thinking about that fight, and B: I don't know who was fighting Tyson that night, but it sure wasn't Larry Holmes.
His wins over Michael Spinks and Trevor Berbick. Not his most impressive but his quick win over Clifford Etienne was pretty good too, considering that Tyson was past his prime.
Good call on the Berbick and Tucker fight. Clifford was a casualty waiting to happen against Tyson, as shot as he was.
I personally always liked his performance against Biggs, showed a lot of finesse. But given the quality of the opponent I wouldn't say it was Tysons best performance. Biggs was a good fighter, but the Duvas basically pushed him into this fight to get him a good payday because he was on the verge of self destruction.
The triple knockdown of Trevor Berbick. Spinks and Carls Williams were impressive, but Spinks was a 33 year old LHW with knee problems who had been out for some time, and Carl Willaims, whiles a good boxer, was a notoriously chinny *******.
The counter left hook under the jab against Carl Williams was one of the best punches ive ever seen. Thomas and Holmes were also great performances. He was unbeatable back then.
