How many guys that outweighed him by 30 lbs did Dempsey fight? Three? And if guys like Georges Carpentier and Battling Levinsky were the hardest hitting heavyweights on the planet, then I'm Peter Pan.

 

Sam Langford told the Atlanta Constitution newspaper on June 5,1922..."If Dempsey fights Harry Wills,...my money will be on the champion...he's the best fighter I've ever seen...he hits as hard as Jefferies..and he's as fast as Corbett"...

Where did Langford see Dempsey fight to reach these conclusions? How would he know if Demspey hit harder than Jeffries?

 

I can't believe so many are involved in a collective jizz-fest over this overrated dinosaur heavyweight blasting out a welterweight, but requiring rabbit punches and hitting from behind to do so...

I love William Harrison Dempsey.

 

Look at this way, he put a 230 lb dude on the floor, multiple times, a thing Johnson failed to do, and Johnson came in and hit him with everything he had.

Johnson is probably the best heavyweight of all time. I believe Johnson would beat Dempsey as well.

Anyway, my point is, Williard is not a small man, and he employs and intelligent defense for a big man, that I urge people to watch.

So, for Dempsey to put a guy down like Williard, it shows that he has the power to put down big men, when other big men could not.

In the lower weight classes, think of Pacquaio vs Mosley. Do you think Mosley would have gotten up if Pacquaio was allowed to hover over you?

Would any of his opponents?

The fact that they did get up, does that make Pacquaio any less of a puncher?
