Agreed, and to think some people considered this a "filler" tourney or a tide-over morsel for next month's abysmal heavyweight seeding. :-(

    Round 1

Pearce is moving in and gets the octopus lock on Foot. Uppercuts worked in by Foot. Pearce can't keep a hold on, due to both the referee's watchful intervention and Foot's shoving off and flurrying. Pearce eats a looping right and misses a lunge of his own as Foot steps out. Combos by Foot, hitting arm. Pearce is spoiling and throwing feints to get in and wrestle. Foot jabs and hops out. Nice lead right by Foot while turning Pearce, sidestepping a counter uppercut. Wide left hook by Pearce misses and leaves his footing spread precariously, so he flops down atop Foot. Pearce is trying to slap down on Foot in the clinch with his forearms. Foot works the 1-2 between the gloves and then slams down with rights over the top. Pearce pushes in and eats some jabs looking for another clinch. Foot hurls him off. Pearce lands a right.

    10-9 Pearce
