Ward won't have the speed of foot advantage he's had over every
opponent he's faced so far, nor will he be able to rough up Calzaghe
on the inside as joe was at least as good a fighter in the clinch. Joe
also has better work rate and punch variety. He also never becomes
unstuck or frustrated in a fight to where he loses his confidence.
Joe would be able to let Ward know that he can't be the boss in there
and would win a convincing decision.

The fight wouldn't happen, in Calzaghe's own words from 1999 - "I don't want tough fights"

He only took the Hopkins fight because he though beating a 43-year-old would be easy. But he got the shock of his life against the old man as despite Hopkins being nowhere near the fighter he was from around 1996-2002, he was still just as good, if not better, than Calzaghe was and even then the only thing Calzaghe had over Hopkins was slightly better stamina. The Hopkins fight comfirmed why Calzaghe didn't want tough fights and never stepped up to elite level.

Boxing is all about levels so I'll use an analogy to explain this - Bute can easliy beat fringe World level fighters (Miranda, Andrade etc), but is not good enough to beat true World class fighters (Froch). Now Calzaghe is a level above Bute and can beat World level fighters (Kessler), but is not good enough to beat elite level fighters, he knew this himself which is why his career went the way it did. Ward is elite and for that reason Calzaghe would not fight him, if they did Ward outclasses him.

Calzaghe in 1999: "I'm not chasing after Roy Jones. Be honest, Roy Jones is a good fighter and I don't want tough fights, I just want big money."

I don't think Joe "ducked" Roy... Roy was in a higher weight class that Joe didn't fight in..

He certainly didn't chase Roy though, or do anything to make the fight happen.

Yes, ducked is probably the wrong word, but that comment from Joe sums up his mind set when it came to stepping up to the plate and testing himself.

Yeah, It was a poor comment for a fighter to make even If he was thinking it...

He certainly waited until it was very safe to fight Roy, when Roy was no longer a great fighter, which he also said.

Joe summed up the Jones fight himself when talking about his son watching videos of Jones in his prime:

"He had also spent the Jones build-up watching footage of Jones' glory years, when he was at his peak, on You Tube. "Connor was sobbing 'dad, he is amazing' and I tried to reassure him 'don't worry son, Jones isn't that good anymore.' "

ward would give him some problems but calzaghe with his experience , talent and ability to adapt would have him win an ugly, but clear decision.

It's funny how people hate on a fighter like Floyd but give passes to hype jobs like Joe Calzaghe. Joke Calsappy is a clown who knows better than anyone theres no way he beats Ward. Stop ther madness.

:patsch:lol: This fool quoting a child of around 8 years old being comforted by his father.
    Wake up dummy.
Many fans picked Jones, only it came down to skill and Calzaghe showed why Jones didnt want to face him years ago
