It was a last-minute opportunity. A chance to stay active and make a few dollars. Also a chance to use the skills he's been working on. Look at Wilder's jab in this fight. Sure, Greer was no challenge, but that doesn't change the fact that Wilder's jab was beautiful. Also note his head movement. Basically he got paid to have a practice session. Good.
