Pound-for-pound winning streaks

Olivares would come in around #30-40 on my list. To put it into perspective, so would Hagler. There are just so many great fighters and it's no coincidence that many of them are oldies, owing to the general rule that the best fought more often, and fought each other more often.

Rose, Burruni and Castillo aren't in there although I thought they might be. But then neither is Joyce or De Jesus. Marshall and Kansas weren't in it until recently. Time will usually sort these things out as attention is drawn to underrated boxers of the past.

 

Thankfully, yes, Chacon's in there. Remember, Olivares also beat Kid Gavilan who's also in

But nobody else that I can see. No shame in that - a string of very good opponents can be convincing also. As you can see, Pep didn't beat a great deal of top enders, but had about sixty other wins over the course of his career against fighters who were at one time or another part of The RING's top ten ratings, some of them genuine lightweights.

For some reason I always thought Mancini (unjustifiably) and Ramirez were in there. Nope. I had to check Escalera. Olivares and Pryor, of course. But we both know Arguello's record was quality.
