I'm not sure the 'more they come forward' idea is going to apply with Gavin eventually. That'll reach a point where it doesn't apply, when his power has very little impact and is a hindrance. It gets tough to outbox people without earning respect. He can probably earn the respect of most opponents, at the moment he's dominant enough to even force them back. But some guys...are going to put him under serious heat. Not sure Vassell is that guy, I think Vassell is quite rounded, more a boxer-puncher with some good inside/midrange skills. Not really out and out pressure as such.
Vassell seems to have a good engine & he wont be hitting air all night. I can see Gavin fading after a good start. Vassell isnt a pressure fighter but he can force the pace enough to make Gavin work hard.
If it comes down to boxing and technical Frankie Gavin wins this comfortable imo he can move beautiful but Denton Vassell is a dangerous puncher tbo and can force the pace and maybe Gavin could get tired. I believe this is a fight that everyone wants.
Assuming that Frankie can't force the pace... From the sparring videos I've seen, he has a lot of different elements to his game. There are other ways of applying pressure than just making someone work.
Frankie by clear ud, hes pure class, could be a belter fiight though, Im a big fan of Vassell and you would have to give him a chance, hes a good boxer and can bang, but Frankies a level above when hes on his game.
What nonsense. It was an appalling stoppage. Heffron took a few shots, was in some trouble, but was still punching and trying to defend himself. If he'd been on the ropes, getting absolutely pounded with no response, fine. You shouldn't just stop the fight as soon as someone gets hurt. How else will fighters learn to overcome adversity?
If the referee would not of stopped the fight, Heffron would of sustained a beating that would affectively ended his career in my opinion. Psychologically more than physically. Heffron is the type of fighter who thinks he can walk through brick walls, BIG MISTAKE. If Heffron was not so young, i don't think the referee would of stopped the fight.
Vassell is too slow for someone like Gavin, I think. The difference of speed would make it a pretty easy night for Gavin. I do rate Vassell though but I can't see him beating Gavin.
Spot on. I ****ing HATE that sound that Heffron makes when throwing a punch. Sounds like he is in a Karate Dojo and not a Boxing Ring. And he thinks he is a prime Tua. Denton would have ruined his career had the fight gone on longer.
Gavin takes this comfortably on points and possibly even forces a late stoppage, Gavin has great boxing skills and is defensively very good and it would be a long frustrating night for vassell with gavin making him miss and breaking him down
