According to Max Kellerman & Andre Ward GGG has more punching power or equal to Mike Tyson & has better defense than JCC Sr. <~ stupidest **** I ever heard.

Look at the guys GGG beat as an amateur, he's clearly too good and experienced for you to say something simple like 'a counterpuncher would son him'. Though he does have flaws, he's entertaining

His footwork is easily among his best assets. :huh It's true that he's not particularly athletic but neither were a lot of great boxers so it's not necessarily an accurate indicator of class. We'll see about him. GGG seems a top bloke inside and outside the ring so I wish him the best but his fans on here are so penetrant about him, it turns some people off of him. There's absolutely no basis whatsoever that he would beat Martinez, Geale or JCCjr (who is a little slow but Golovkin ain't razor fast himself). I respect his amateur record but I call bull**** on those hyperbolic sparring stories.

This is such bull****. Bute was always widely regarded as a hype job here. He was never a god on this forum and probably not on any other forums either.

Couldn't agree anymore than I already do.

GGG is so overrated it's ridiculous. I'm praying JCC fight happens so GGG fans just go away. What a brutal stoppage GGG will endure

Your post is bull****. Many people on here began to legitimately question his spot around the top at 168. They were clamoring for a Ward fight, saying Pavlik ducked Bute. Then Bute accepted the Froch fight and everyone was sure Bute was on his way to stardom and a showdown with Ward.

Massive people bought into the steaming pile of **** that is Bute

I doubt GGG will ever achieve what a BUte had done in his career or beat the level of fighters Bute beat. GGG hasn't even beaten a B level fighter yet, people are so quick to call Bute a hype job but fact is he was destroying or putting clinics on a lot of B level dudes something which GGG has yet to do.

GGG is great tow atch and likely a top3 fighter in his division but his hype is getting outa control. Martinez would toy with him, GGG= great offense but **** poor D

You're a steaming pile of **** and a pimple on Bute's ass. Yes he was overrated, and so is GG by some, but this is ESB where you have Soto ATG threads and such.

The Bute comparison is stupid cause hype is the only common thing, you might as well said GG is the next Curtis Stevens and you'd make more sense. The differences are much greater:

    1. Bute was protected since he was a huge local draw. Golovkin will fight anyone anywhere, but no MWs are answering the challenge.
    2. Bute was always of suspect punch resistance, see his KO loss to GG.
    3. Nothing alike stylewise

How is Golovkin the new Bute when he basically one-punch KO'd Bute with headgear on?

I get peoples overt hate toward the blatant over-hype job HBO is doing for Golovkin. But at the end of the day, why not be happy for him? He's a real dude, will fight ANYONE and always goes out to entertain. Yet all I've heard since Saturday evening, is that (insert fighter) would beat him and he's not that good and all he is, is hype.

    Here are some truths:

    - He's a very strong puncher.

    - Your favorite MW has probably turned down a fight with him.

    - He's finally caught the eye of U.S. markets.

You keep hating, and he'll keep TKO/KO'ing guys.

I like him a lot, actually.

He just doesnt have better defense than JCC Sr. That's a very ridiculous remark.

Oh yea, that was crazy. But is it really surprising? When HBO latches onto a fighter, all bets are off.

I actually found it disgusting when Max was saying that Golovkin is the best MW, dismissing Martinez. While I think GGG can beat Martinez, he hasn't. And until he does, Martinez has that title, whether well deserved or not.
