    Goyourownway,

I hope for your own sake that you're trolling.

So you'd heard about him for years, yet when you saw the fight, you hadn't realised that he was almost 40, and he'd been dominated and knocked cold by Glen Johnson, over 4 years EARLIER?

Right, I see. You didn't know Roy in 2004, and saw what happened.

I would actually place Joe higher than Robinson and Ray.

They suffered losses, and Joe was never beat. So they can't have been as good can they?

It's a toss up for me, on who was the greatest ever fighter.

    It's either Joe or Marciano.

Marciano had 3 more fights, but Joe has a great tattoo.

    It's a tough one.

I'd say if they'd have fought, Joe's workrate would have pulled out the win.

Nobody could match his workrate, and his stamina.

Don't get me wrong, Marciano would be dangerous, because he had a bit of power, but it wouldn't have been enough in my opinion.

All things considered, I think Joe has to be the greatest fighter in history.

Aint nobody knocking Veit out like he did!

in all seriousness, Calzaghe was much better than his resume that was a bit shitty. Calzaghe is the best super middle of all time, and would cause any light heavy in history problems.

he threw a lot of slaps, but also a lot of power punches. people put too much weight on his performance against Hopkins, which wasn't his best and didn't make him look good.

Can you remember when you told me about that MMA fighter, that fights guys above his weight?

    What's his name?

I can't find the old post. I'll check him out.

    Wow..

looking at the numbers i posted above really gave Calzaghe fanatics a dose of reality.. Not one has replied..

Perhaps being glared at by simple statistics that clearly show how many more miles were on Roy's body versus Joe's have finally done the trick.. There are a few ways to try and spin this, but they would be anything other than intelligent, and wouldn't consist of proving Roy was a legacy fight for Joe... Considering that most Calzaghe fans are delusional, I am disappointed with their resolve honestly.

Roy was much more shot that Joe, to the point where they can't be compared in that way... This simply can't be argued.

an equivalent topic on the classic boards would be those arguing that joey archer's beat down of ray robinson made him a better fighter than ray in their primes.

Ha! I'll give you a clue.

He's the most argumentative person that's ever lived! However, this forum wouldn't be the same without him.
