Joel CASAMAYOR would've defeated Floyd MAYWEATHER @ 130lbs

at Casamayors best, For me I'd see it 55/45 in favor of Floyd. Just slight edge to him based off his unbelievable skillset. But close enough that Casa would give him major hell. People forget how sick Casamayor was. He was better than the other Cubans we've seen recently.

Would have loved this fight. Freitas would have been a better fight to see but casa twice beat Corrales at sfw on my card.

The thing is, Floyd has never fought a boxer who's similar sized to him so it's hard to predict a fight like this.

What can we really go on in terms of Floyd's career to base a prediction on?

All I can do is go on the eye test and Floyd looks more complete so I'd favour him but a loss wouldn't really be too surprising.

 

Mayweather wins because Freitas beat Casamayor.
Floyd beat Corrales>(Floyd effect) = Credit win.

Big fan of casa, but nobody- I'll say it again-nobody beats Floyd 130-147.
Simply the best boxer of his era

 

Predicting boxing results is a major task and it's always a matter of guessing as no one really knows, just speculate. Joel Casamayor at his prime was a great Champion. His first two defeats were extremely controversial ( to Freitas and Castillo ). Joel was as slick as they come with a wicked straight left hand, an A+ defence and A+ Chin.

Casamayor was also a great amateur ( way better than Floyd ) and this is also a great advantage even though it was the amateurs. It's very hard to say who would've won but all I will say is that Joel had everything to give Floyd fits. No wonder Floyd always ignored him and decided to move up. It was a 50/50 fight in my opinion and the stiffest test for both !!!

 

Nothing is impossible, yes Floyd is great but so was Casamayor. Let's not forget that Casa was 2-3 times better and more experienced than Floyd in the amateurs and that also counts.

 

Gamboa is better than Casa any day of the week. Casa had a much better Chin and defence but Gamboa has better speed, power, explosiveness and raw athleticism. Also, Gamboa won more titles in the amateurs ...

 

You could make a reasonable case that Castillo already beat Mayweather at 135.

Personally, I had it a draw, but I think people can make cases for either fighter.

 

Floyd didn't have his best night against Castillo 1, but he took him to school when they fought the rematch.
Casa would've been competitive but Floyd was simply one step ahead I everything casamayor was good at.
As much I'd loved casa kicking his ass, can't deny reality.
