Joel CASAMAYOR would've defeated Floyd MAYWEATHER @ 130lbs

    Good post.

Those 'losses' you mentioned weren't really losses in my opinion. For me, he certainly beat Castillo and was unlucky against Freitas, but it could have gone either way.

As you say, Casamayor's chin and defensive capabilities (and particularly his excellent counter-punching) would have served him well against Floyd, but there are also at least two other favourable advantages for Joel. Firstly, because of his massive Amateur experience, Joel was very wily, and very cool headed; he knew every trick in the book and could hustle Floyd with some borderline rough-house tactics. Casamayor was one of the most ring-smart fighters of his generation. Secondly, Joel moved fantastically well, better than anyone Floyd faced. El Cepillo's movement, counter-punching capabilities, and level-headed tactical appraisal all present a formidable challenge for Floyd.

This would be a great tactical, a counter-punching masterclass, and I think a pretty even contest.

Casamayor would not have beaten Floyd, likely he would have been Disqualified against Floyd, Casa is a dirty fighter as it is, and when Frustrated that dirtiness kicks into high gear he would end up not only out boxed, but DQd before the fight was over

Casa would have give PBF a good fight. Casa is a good fighter very underrated.

Mayweather beats him. You'd have to be a very special fighter to beat Mayweather at 130 pounds - Casamayor ain't that.

I wouldn't even favor Arguello over him tbh, although that probably has as much to do with styles as anything.

    super casa fan.

i think we missed seeing casa vs floyd in the 96 olympics. but really i think joel could of taken 5 rounds from floyd.

southpaw, slick, expereince sharpness and a gameplan. i think he would of had a great performance.

Floyd didn't ignore Casamayor. He called him out multiple times and claims he moved up in weight because he couldn't get the fight made.

Its always difficult with fantasy match ups but I think it would have been a good fight.....The only thing I will say is Casa has lost to lesser fighters than Floyd.

It would have been close but clear imo.

:bloodwhen joel was in his late 30's and partially retired on and off for 3 years.

thats sort of what makes it more interesting. casa was in his absolute prime.
he was 27, had just as much advantages that floyd didnt have till later.

I agree. I just think Floyd was the more mentally tough of the two and if I had to bet on either one giving up their 0 I think I would bet on Casa.

Close 7-5 or 8-4 decision at the most.....
