Baldomir was one of my favorite fighters, I fall in the ***** category in the ******* vs ***** debates but I rooted for Baldomir in the fight dubbed ""Pretty Risky"

I've only seen a few fights in Argentina on TV, but they do seem to get good, noisy crowds in (e.g. Maidana's last two fights in Argentina had a good atmosphere). Let's see how many people watch Martínez vs Murray, that's a 'massive' fight for the country, even if it's solely for Martínez's name value. I don't think that a venue has been announced, but hopefully it's a big one.

 

Maidana and Matthysse were both probably more popular than Martinez there until the last year or so. Martinez lagged behind those two as he hasn't fought in the country for years and his recent reputation is largely a product of a lot of promotional work he did there last year (including an appearance on their version of Dancing with the Stars) and the Chavez Jr fight.

he didn't really deserve it last year didn't win anything major. but he isn't popular in argentina seen as someone who fled they prefer they stars to start in their league.he doesn't even win footballing popularity contest there

Yeah, El Huracan is well loved down there.

So too are some of their up-and-comers (Chaves, Maderna, Cuellar, Carrasco, Godoy even though he got a gift over Baldomir) - and they have some very good road warrior veterans who fall a bit short of greatness but can give anyone at world level a hard night: Maciel, Abregu, Lujan, Barros, Javier Munoz.

Plenty of choices to root for.
