If we all ranked fighters purely based on how impressive they looked on film, although Robinson would probably still be numero uno, it's fair to say that P4P lists would look a lot different. We do look at ability, obviously, but we also have to take into account a host of other factors. Resume, longevity, title defenses, weight-jumping, titles held, etc. Many different things. But, throwing all of that stuff out of the window for a second, who are the ATGs who fail to impress you on film? There have been occasions I'll be looking at a supposed ATG, and although I know the fighter in question has achieved great things, beaten very good fighters, the footage itself just doesn't impress me a great deal. I can't be the only one. So, yeah, ATGs who fail to impress you with their abilities. I suppose the fighter doesn't necessarily have to be an all-timer, but at least one that is held in very high regard. Discuss.
Not an ATG, but I really don't get the big fuss over Howard Winstone. I see nothing remotely exceptional about him. He seems to be famous solely for having lost three times to Saldivar. And while I fully acquiesce that Saldivar was quite great indeed based on his accomplishments, his style seems very pedantic to me and one of the least dynamic of any featherweight ATG.

I think most would admit than Monzon is a jarring watch for a retrospective viewer, he's a bit like Troust Mask Replica, takes a few goes to 'get it'. Sammy Angott. Jim Corbett. Come to mind.
Those films of him having his hand raised 84 times in a row are pretty impressive. He actually looks great on film but you have to watch how he controls the narrative and pace of a 15 round championship fight, not just a highlight reel. Max Baer looks ridiculous.
Victor Galindez is annoying to watch, because he fought in so negative a fashion. He had the strength and power to be a very good swarmer, but mostly he just lay on the ropes until he got tired of letting the opponent swing away, and then he'd spring off the ropes with that spastic explosion of punches meant seemingly more to offset his opponent's timing and impress the judges than to actually actively control a fight. That always bothered me about him. I suppose I should applaud his ability to fuse two styles together into something cohesive enough to have won a world title and defend it a number of times, but he still pisses me off.
He looks great but visually i don't like his style. I think i interpreted the thread wrong. My mind started going down an aesthetics avenue. My mistake.
His technique maybe, yeah. But punching the living **** out of top contenders ought to impress. Well, it looks impressive to me anyway.
