I think Benn sparred loads but it was Eubank who only sparred 5 or so rounds for a fight.
    :good:good Good read mate

What do you reckon was the factor that meant you never really made it (no offence intended I'm sure you know what I mean). Management/promoter to take care of you, dedication, power, speed or something else? And where do you think you should have ended up based on boxing not with short notice fights, robberies etc.

I did make it - my goal was to have a pro fight - I got to the top ten in the uk and top ten in England amateur. I saw my name in the ratings - shared the ring with 4 world champions, numerous British, european and commonwealth champions. Fought in prizefighter - made a comeback after five years out with just one loss.

I'm happy with what I did - I was never a pro champ but I was an amateur champion. I was blessed to be able to do what I loved to a fair standard. Wouldn't change it for the world.

In terms of achieving more - if as a hungry young boxer I knew what I knew now then I'd have done so much more - thus if I'd have stayed amateur longer I might have expanded my knowledge the same. Some trainers speak nonsense it's your responsibility to understand the physiology of boxing yourself - that was my biggest problem.

Who was the best technical fighter that you've shared the ring with? Including sparring.

Sorry if my question came across as belittling you're career which wasn't my intention. I was there at the Prizefighter by the way, the first time I ever went to a boxing show.

What amateur titles did you win?

    :good

How much money did you make from boxing?

Money? Ok amount but nothing huge. It wasn't about that. Money was just a bonus.

I won just regional stuff. North west novice, east lancs senior ABA, east lancs junior ABA, north west NABC. But it was a strong region.

Sure I can understand that I've become mates with a pro boxer out here (only had 2 fights) and he said when he got paid he was just laughing.

I dream of winning something at that kind of level mate. Do you ever think of another comeback? It seems most boxers struggle to walk away and leave it like that.

I wasn't getting any better - their aren't any trainers that suit me in my area in terms of ability or commitment and I could only get over to Kevin Maree once or twice a week so wasn't improving.

Course I'd like to do more but I've always liked helping people when I can, as some here might agree :) I get the same buzz from coaching people to be honest. I still train and could still beat most mid level guys but back in the day I was better then that.

That must be very frustrating, having your situation hold you back like that.

Well good luck with the coaching and keep us updated. You seem to have a great attitude to training so I'm sure it'll go well.

Back on topic who was the hardest puncher you ever shared a ring with? Also what happened in the last two rounds of the Prizefighter fight?

    Thank you!

And is there anything different you might do with your diet that last week?
