Don't rate Laing. Outside of a career best performance against a lethargic looking Duran (which McGirt wasn't) I've only seen him get starched by Colin Jones (no shame there) and look merely okay against limited opponents.

Only my opinion, no stylistic analysis from me, just going on 'levels'.

    McGirt by KO.

Laing could have been a very good fighter but he insisted on that cocky style, and he smoked way too much ganja.

I think Honeyghan would have beat him.
Laing stuck his chin out too much, and it wasn't made of iron.

I think honeyghan is a very much underrated boxer I also think honeyghan would of beaten Laing but I also think it would of been an enjoyable fight to watch as honeyghan vs Colin jones would of been of course totally different fights but good to watch

    You're right.
I think Laing possibly had a lot of 'potential', but it's impossible to measure that. He was one of those cocky guys who fought like he thought he was Muhammad Ali, and that tends to get the crowd thinking he's a natural. In most fights he was decidedly unremarkable. He just ran away, held his hands low, and won or lost depending on how good the opponent was.

On the other hand, he beat Roberto Duran.
