Gmitruk was Andrzej's trainer when he was still an amateur

Maskaev did have the power to hurt Andrew, but Oleg was never especially quick. Golota definitely had better speed of both hand and foot, and I think he'd have been able to outjab Oleg and mostly avoid those right hands. Golota did have deceptively fast hands, once upon a time.

Wasn't that guy like 41 back when he fought Golota in like '98?

Yeah, I know. Gmitruk himself made that point to me once. Gmitruk and Colonna both worked with Adamek and Golota at different points.

I honestly didn't even know Gmitruk still trained until I saw him working with someone on a televised event a few weeks back (maybe a month or more).

When Adamek made the transition to Bloodworth, I was under the impression that Gmitruk had health issues that took him out of the picture.

Gmitruk is training Poland's next World Champion Mateusz Masternak :good

he actually has his own boxing group in Poland, O’CHIKARA GMITRUK TEAM, which surprised me a bit, given he had to give up training Adamek due to health issues

I'm not sure, I guess he was working in his promotional group, he's only been with Masternak since he signed with Sauerland

Yeah. He also had a gimp leg and apparently was a part time boxer by day and a male stripper wannabe by night!!

Researching his record, his last fight was a KO loss in the 1st round by some guy named David Dixon back in '03. He ended his career with a record of 23 wins 15 losses with 7 KOs. That would be awesome if a 56 year old Basting announced a comeback and called out Golota for a rematch. :bbb

I'm here to stick one last fork in Golota. However, going by the footage, I'll be needing a bigger fork.

He actually appears somewhat trimmer than he did for the Adamek debacle.

Wasn't just health reasons. Gmitruk and Rozalski just didn't get along. Not sure why, but my bet is that it was over money and Adamek's style going forward at HW.

Bart needed a pitchfork for Golota when he fought Adamek. :yep

But Golota has had plenty of time to train and already looks fairly lean so I'm confident he will show up no more than 243 or so. Not that he will be any faster of course.
