First thing that comes to mind is seeing fight posters tacked-up all over the neighborhood ballyhooing an up-coming match between Sonny and Rocky Graziano, with both in fierce fighting poses.

Wished I'd had the good sense to save one of those posters, LT

Dad never did either. He knew him after he came back from New York. I think he died before I was born but dad spoke highly of him. I wondered if anyone here saw him fight and if he was pretty good. What kind of style he had. That sort of thing.

Ah, Sonny Horne a name from my boyhood. Sonny Horne started his carrer considered
a fine MW prospect...Horne who my dad and I saw several times in NY arena's, was ruined because he fought almost WEEKLY against the best young prospects...I saw him lose to a neighberhood fighter Artie Levine, who later on had Ray Robinson on the canvas for 17 seconds in Cleveland. Sonny Horne was after his hectic beginning fighting too damn often and after about 40 bouts went quickly downhill, becoming a top trial horse...A shame his management ov er used Sonny. He died a very young man .....

I just looked up his record. I didnt realize he was still alive when I was a kid. I didnt start paying close attention to boxing until later.

I also didnt realize he had so many losses.
