So I'm going to change the criteria here for my one post, but I just want to say that BJ Flores was on his game commentating the Kovalev vs. Campillo fight.

I don't think there's one single best commentator, because you really need a team to complement each other. You need a mix of analytical and play by play. I think Roy Jones is one of the best analyzers and Jim Lampley is the best play by play commentator.

English love listening to RJ and Bernstein and of course Manny Steward is greatly missed.

Spanish it's legends Finito Lopez and Dr. Alfonso Morales who is one of the few of the old school still remaining and covered boxing AND lucha libre. Its also rumored the humble and knowledgeable Dr was none other than masked luchador Tinieblas!

Ehhhhh... he doesn't know boxing on a deep level but he doesn't have to. He does his job well, which is to just plainly say what's going on and sound excited.

He doesn't really say what's going on though, he generally just tows 'the company line' and pulls for the HBO fighter.

His commentary in Bradley - Pacquiao was disgraceful, calling all manner of shots that didn't land. Or ignoring ones that did for Bradley (before it sounds like I'm saying otherwise, Pac won that fight)

He comes across as having a blatant bias

Yeah he sounds exciting but I'm not sure that's enough

To be fair, very few people can actually say what's actually going on. Most people don't actually "see" a fight until the second time they watch it. I'm sure most people were thinking what Lampley was thinking when they watched Bradley vs Pac.

Anyway, there isn't much of anyone else to compare him too. There's that overly excited guy I see on british streams sometimes but he's just okay. I just think each commenting team needs someone who sounds excited and that pool is relatively small. When Lampley starts quoting compubox I wanna kill myself, though.

I thought Ward did a good job the other night. I think he has a future in that after he retires as long as his faculties remain intact (I think they will.)

I like Roy Jones Jr. as well.

Al Bernstein was def one of them, and he may be coming back to Showtime.

Also, there's a guy on most of the BoxNation broadcasts who I REALLY like, but I don't know his name. Super knowledgable about the technical side of boxing, and he never hypes up just one fighter during a bout.
