I'd just go back to the 1930s, with Julio Cesar Chavez, Pernell Whitaker, Roberto Duran in a time machine ... and let the mix it up with at 135 - 140 with the likes of Armstrong, Ambers, McLarnin, Ross, Canzoneri etc.

Everybody wants Joe Louis and Muhammad Ali in the same era to watch them fight, but what about the differing political stance they would have taken?

Imagine that Joe Louis serves in Vietnam, while Ali is stripped for taking a stance against the war.

Imagine that Joe Louis aligns himself with Martin Luther King, while Ali aligns himself with the NOA.

Now imagine that they split a series.

I'd prefer a fantasy era where politics doesn't infect sport. :good

Jeffries, Corbett, Johnson and Dempsey all in their primes would answer a lot of questions and would make for a series of great (or at the least very interesting) fights. Corbett v Johnson would be out of this world.

I find it hard to chuck in fighters separated by more than 30 years or so just because of practical reasons like diet, training, size, etc....somehow Vitali v Joe Choynski at heavyweight doesn't seem like all that much of a contest

Hardly 'all out' when you didn't bother with sub-126lb fighters. Not enough depth down there for ya'??
