Noone cares abt boxing no More. Hell Boone flinched when pacquaio got koed but roared for Cain hen he won Hw title
The US scene is dead because the Klits are too good, they can't match them physically or mentally. Once the Klits are away you'll see the same abc belt state side champs return.
Food stamps. Section 8 housing. Dope game. Why would a kid risk getting his face pushed in during his teen yrs if he aint hungry to escape his circumstances. America is a welfare state. Even the poorest of the poor have iphones and flat screens. The team sports argument comes to mind, but that only solidifies the argument. Poor kids today got it too soft. The solid athletic kids with any hope are groom by HS coaches for football and basketball, sent to Catholic and Prep schools where they're essentially paid to play. If there was money in amatuer boxing, and promoters started combing the sandlots looking for talent, there might be better american fighters. The only good american fighters are too small for team sports.
- Poor amateur program - Lack of inspirational role models - Improvement of overseas heavyweights - General pussification of culture - Rise of big money team sports - Lack of true grit or hunger among urban poor - Mollycoddling promoters All of the above in same manner impacts on the situation, I think.
Doubt any serious/gifted rising fighter would pick MMA, where they literally pay them peanuts, over boxing.
Your second point is a good one. How you gonna' have boxing in school when Mothers against drunk driving have taken over. We're all supposed to live in a hermetically sealed bubble now. Didn't you get the memo? It's for the children's sake so how can you argue? The first? I dunno about cowardly. Not hard at all to find a nice brawl most places if you go in running your mouth. If you really believe that, pick a port (we have a **** ton of them in this country), go to one of the bars down by the docks and try your luck. Then you can post the results on your facey-space...
I have noticed the number mentioned for the NBA and NFL have got alot higher in recent time, however that doesn't guarantee the people who would have picked boxing if the money was lower would be any better.
Show me a top level heavyweight boxer who initially got into the sport for the money, and not for example to get off the streets, stay out of jail, avoid being picked on etc.
