Vitali had 3 rounds to make it through. I understand the extreme pain but it's only 3 rounds and you're supposed to be a champion. Vitali did quit make no bones about that but I dont know what Byrd means by "stopped."
Byrd couldn't drop Vitali ever.

 

if he was that good how come he couldn't drop a guy who could hardly move because of a brutal injury. Not to mention, later Byrd said he won only cause Vitaly injured himself. Source is Klitschko documentary.

 

Byrd was obviously giving the elder Klit some problems in those latter rounds. IDK, maybe Chris was getting to Dr Robotnik...

 

Byrd does not get enough credit for that performance.

 

I had it 5-4 in rounds to Vitali. I think Byrd would have clearly swept 10, 11 and 12 giving him the victory.

 

Byrd was outboxing him for rounds at a time.

Vitali got a freak injury early in the fight and still dominated Byrd with one arm.

Wlad destroyed Byrd twice.

Yep, I agree with this, Vitali pulled out because his team must have figured he was about to lose on the scorecards so there was no point in him taking that punishment for another 3 rounds. It's a legitimate win for Byrd IMO
