It's going to happen sooner or later and when it does, Danny will school Matthysse. I truly believe that Garcia could end up stopping Matthysse late. It's actually very annoying how people forget about Garcia's boxing smarts. He may be "flat footed" and slightly slower than other fighters, but he has better ring IQ than any of them.

 

When has his IQ been really tested? He has great timing with his mid-range bombs and gets closer to the mark as rounds progress, but that's the only change I've really seen. He's definitely not dumb, but I don't see what sticks out in terms of his ring smarts. No dramatic adjustments thus far.

Well, if we go by how ppl rate Mathysse in this place then Danny should be no lower than p4p no.2 or 3 after beating him!

 

People are using his timing (which is good) as overall intelligence. Like you said, he does possess intelligence, but it hasn't really stood out in the bouts we have seen him in. Recent bouts for example, didn't/couldn't adapt against a past it Morales. Didn't adapt and begin to time Khan leading up to the knockdown, mainly because he was already timing Khan with single power shots from round 1.

He is calm under fire, and seems very patient, but that's not intelligence, that's closer to his personality and attitude in the ring.

We don't care. We just want to see a good fight, to see the divisions best fighters going at it. That is the heart and soul of boxing and the fans deserve such a spectacle.

 

Exactly. He's well rounded, but his real strength comes from his one lethal trick, which is timing his opponents with bombs as they come in. He's frequently gone to decision when forced to chase. I've yet to see him make dramatic adjustments, so his ring smarts are not something I see merit in hyping up.

 

Garcia is a really solid fighter with decent skills whose having his 15 minutes of fame, but someone will eventually come along and show him his place in boxing

 

keep in mind that Garcia isn't even in his prime yet. all he's doing is getting better by the day.
