Both Vitali and Lewis took the fight on short notice. Lewis was to face Kirk Johnson and Vitali was scheduled to fight Cedric Boswell. Originally Tyson was to fight on the under card to build interest in a rematch with Lewis but when he pulled out Vitali was then added to the under card.

Lewis and Vitali had also already signed to fight in the Autumn of 2003. So if anyone was better prepared it was Vitali.

    Vitali vs Common sense

    During the Chisora face off

Vitali: "When you beat opponents, they try to make excuses"

    5 minutes later

Vitali: "I don't lose any fight in my career, only injury stopped me."

Lennox Lewis has never been caught lying!

Vitali has been caught lying on multiple occasions + has been caught for steroids

Wrong, Lewis promised a rematch in the ring to Vitali. He broke his word and retired. Lewis therefore lied.

    No he did not!

if the money is right, yeah ok. Is far from a promise

What was that you said earlier - something about facts

Now is it a fact that "yeah ok, if the money is right" constitutes a promise or a lie - No

If vitali couldn't beat Lennox on one of his worst days why do these kilt fans think he should be favoured to beat Lennox if they had rematched

Lennox always did better in rematches so I don't see how they can claim vitali would of won a 2nd fight

Or is it just a colour thing

Totally agree with your post, can't find anything to disagree with there. Though I would say that Vitali hurt Lewis badly in the 2nd but Lewis deserves credit for recovering quickly and punching back. Lewis may seem troubled/hurt but trust me he was clearly positioning to counter with deadly shots. Vitali's tactic in this fight was to outlast and exploit Lewis' terrible conditioning for this fight and that tactic was spot on. Sadly the cuts killed that tactic and forced him into a faster more panicked pace with only one eye to see from. Of course the punches from Lewis are to be blamed for those cuts. Still a great heavyweight fight, when was the last time leading up to this fight did the division have a fight like that?

that was the last great HW match i've seen. It was "good war" while it lasted. Credit to both really.
