I can understand it though. I'm not bashing him for it. Like an earlier poster said he had the title handed to him on a silver platter while Vargas had to earn everything he got.

not a big fernando fan but he did fight the risky fights and he did put himself out there, gotta respect him for that. i wish fighters today would fight each other instead of protecting their ZERO'S. on the other hand look what happened to fernando he took all those big fights and then burned himself out and now he will live his life thinking how much money he could have made and how much longer his boxing career would have been. double edged sword i guess. canelo's team is definitely thinking of a young beat up fernando when they are protecting his record. they dont want to wash up that cash cow too early! in the long run its all about money.

    and how would thatve happened?

tito was not coming off a loss(es), recently ko'd, moving up in weight and was a ranked top ten jmw.

those are all no-no's if you want to be considered a future canelo alvarez title defense candidate.

No one half sane would be impressed by Alvarez so far, he has done nothing to prove anything.

    Indeed he would!:!:

I've thought about this fight quite a lot over the last year and Feroz was a level above this version of Canelo at a similar stage.

    This speaks volumes.

BUT the Vargas fairytale when it's all said and done, was too good to be true.
    PED's..

Canelo Alvarez is very fortunate. He can land huge paydays fighting opponents that are no way near as great as the competition in Vargas' time.

    This. :good

He is an exciting fighter to watch because of his power and flshy punches, and I am rooting for him, but to me he is a young fighter on his way to becoming a real champion as soon as he starts fighting the best.

I think many have the same sentiment I do, and that it's more GBP holding Alvarez back then the fighter himself. the kid has the tools, has the goods, and seems to have the right mindset to be an excellent champion. Just makes one wonder if GBP has confidence in Alvarez, or are trying too hard to keep his "0" intact for promotional reasons. The sooner they realize a loss for a young fighter will NOT ruin him, the better.

Actually I thought he held back...... Perhaps due to his support of Mexican fighters in general ?

Let's just put it this way, had Feroz faced the guys Canelo did, he'd probably be active up till now with a 78-0 record.

I don't blame him if he is butthurt, Vargas earned his first world title, it was not gifted to him. Vargas would of taken Matthew Hatton out in 4 rounds
