I think its time to create a new Super Heavyweight division for anyone over say 16stone. Too many of these smaller heavyweights like Ray Austin, Solis and Danny Williams in the past have been out of shape and not caring about the weight. I just think it would make more of these Heavyweights get in shape and also make it more competitive for them fighting similar sized guys. Also some of the bigger crusierweights could move up to Heavyweight leaving the huge men to fight at Super Heavyweight. Thoughts?
Danny Williams would have to remove a leg to make 16 stone. The guy was fight and strong at 17-18 stone.
Most people will always be against a super heavyweight division me included, the heavyweight division should always be the limit, maybe moving the cruiserweight division upto 210/220lbs max would be a better idea.
Na not really. The quality just needs to step up. Both Klitschkos usually come in fighting shape below 250lbs.
A better suggestion would be to implement some sort of Body Mass Index (BMI) limit. This would place a personal weight limit for each and every boxer. I don't know what a good number would be for an in-shape athlete, so don't ask me. All I know is that the "official" guidelines do NOT work for an athlete due to muscle mass. You could even make a lower limit for the smaller weight classes to make sure someone has not cut an unsafe amount of weight. I am sure we could make a rough estimate based on those boxers who are in fighting shape.
But look at guys like Tua, everybody is built differently, the standard BMI is pretty much redundant when it comes to sports IMO.
Ray Austin is 6'6", how is he a small HW? Williams and Solis are also natural HW's. But no, no more weight classes, we have enough ****ing weightclasses and ****ing catch weight fights. I'm so tired of this bull****.
Stop with this Superheavyweight bullcrap. It´s a terrible idea. Let´s not water down the sport more eh.
Maybe they should have a UFC style heavyweight limit. Everyone has to be under 265. Theres VERY few boxers who couldnt come in under 265. Vauev is the only one I could think of.
This **** again Remember why cruiserweight has never been a great division? because it lives in the shadow of the heavyweights and the big prize anytime someone got a cruserweight strap they moved up for the money, even guys like Al Cole who should just be happy with a title moved up for the real money and prestige if you made a heavy and super heavy the guys at heavy would move up for the big prize and the real money to be the biggest and baddest on the planet you would probably see cruiserweight flourish and this so called regular heavyweight be bereft of talent
