Felix Sturm vs. Sam Soliman

He said he would fight the winner of Stieg-AA but then he lost to Geale which ****ed his plans up a little bit I guess.

 

I think the way to beat Sturm, granted im not a trainer or expert, would be to drive up the pace and create angles

I've seen guys fight Sturm where they walk up to his high guard put their gloves on his and stay inside not throwing, kind of just obliging to be where he wants you

Its funny because he has maybe the best jab at the weight so guys wanna come close, but once up close they cant tackle the defense. Sturm isnt a KO guy but his shots are sharp so he can win inside

I'm not really a Sturm fan but he has a system and a method and it works, kind of like Miguel Vazquez what you see is what you get its the same every time and either you can stop it or you cant

Its been yrs since i watched Castillejo KO Sturm and the rematch was close i remember internet posters (not ESB) thinking Castillejo won but i cant remember how

I dont think Arthur has the style outside the punch but who knows

 

I recently watched Soliman v Winky.

I will say this much. Soliman never stops punching and Sturm has problems with volume. His defence is too passive. He needs you to stop punching, then he sets himself and throws his own punches.

If Soliman can keep up the pace at his age he can win this.

 

I sort of agree with Manny. Though I haven't been able to find much of Soliman's recent work online. I would be inclined to bet on Soliman, except that Sturm is still a pretty decent cash cow. If he were to lose this one too, I think his future as a money maker would be in big trouble. Is that really going to be allowed to happen? I give Soliman a shot in the ring. On the cards, I'm skeptical.

I'll be honest I haven't seen Soliman since the Mundine fights (Rarely like to rise early for small Aussie clashes, only more major ones). But I think Sturm wil get a clear 117-111 type decision. Just the better fighter. After, he'll loose a slightly clearer but still somewhat close decision Geale.

I second that volume is key against Sturm.

And honestly, I think Sturm may still have the best jab in not just his division, but in all of boxing.

 

Sturm weighs around 85 kg between fights. So it's not that easy for him to make MW.

 

I think it will happen eventually. :good Too much money to be made.

 

Looking forward to this as I think Sturm can be really good to watch. His jab is one of the best I have seen. Hope to see him in with Geale, Macklin or Barker if he wins tonight.
