http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/id/8901745/abner-mares-moves-weight-class-nonito-donaire-fight-falls-through I knew he's find a way to **** up a possible Mares-Donaire fight...and he did.
Yeah, what a ****in *****!! All we get now is Donaire vs. the guy EVERYONE accused him of duckin in Rigo. Stupid old man!!
At least Nonito is fighting Rigo now. Then he can move up and fight Mares at 126. Nonito shouldn't be at 122 for much longer anyway. The only targets there were Rigo and Mares, now one will just have to wait a bit more.
Mares straight up lies in that interview. Arum claims to have offered Mares double what he had made before. Schaefer said it was $1 million and a "low-ball" offer. Why didn't Mares take the $1 million? He ducked, plain and simple. GBP came up with a cover for him and it has been bought way to readily by those that refuse to look at the facts here. Bottom line. Mares, #3 in the division turned down $1 million and the fight went to the #2 for $750K. Mares ducked. Blame Arum all you want and feel safe that the rest of the sheep will cuddle around you to help you feel all warm and fuzzy. :yep
" To hell with Bob Arum!!!" I believe that's where he already is. He rules the place, and only crawls out from under some rock into our world when there's a big fight looming. "Old Bezelbob" controls all ! :fire
and this is my main issue. Donaire and Bob had no problem with the contract. They just didn't want to fight
And if he doesn't, you'll come back to this thread and say how wrong you were right? I mean, EVERYONE on ESb goes back to their old posts when they are obviously just talking **** to correct themselves.
Poor little naive high schoolers who have no idea how the business world operates and expect things to just happen like they were in Disney World with Mickeys hat on and Winnie the pooh teddy bear on their arms.
Mares is straight up lying. Schaefer admitted TR offered them $1 million for the fight. Mares is caught in a lie here.
atsch that's not a counter offer. Bob offered that first, then Mares's side offered their contract. Donaire liked the money obviously because he asked Schaefer to send over the contract and then for some reason they didn't like some provision in the contract (at least that's what you said and Donaire is implying). That is what Mares means by counteroffer. He means, whatever they don't like in the contract, address it to them.
Mares is clearly trying to make it sound as if there was NO offer from TR. GBP is very careful in their orchestration of this whole event. You want to quibble counter when GBP Mares don't call their offer a counter to make it sound like this was the initial offer? You really want to go that route? GBP got Mares out of the division unscathed. Good for them. :rofl
