    Top 5.

If he had a great chin I'd have him at #2.

Do you think his chin is that bad?

KO'd twice, susceptible like any heavyweight or at least most. Was he really ever on ***** street in his other fights

I remember in round 1 or 2 Vitali had him in plenty of trouble

Tua caught his attention at least once

Briggs caught his attention in round 1

outside of that i dont remember him being in trouble

I'd favour Ali and Holmes to beat him. Also Liston, Tyson and perhaps Foreman would at least give him a very tough fight. Other than that, I couldn't see anyone else getting the better of Lewis at his best.

I think Holmes might give him a harder fight than Ali, Larry had the best Jab Lewis has a jab thats close to Larrys, but I just feel Larry was a bit more fluid at his best.

However I also think Lewis beats Ali, call me crazy but most will suggest because Ali got Liston out of there easily and got rid of a young foreman than he should beat Lennox, I disagree, Foreman is a slow wide punching big man sure he had power but a fighter like Ali would see the shots coming.
Foreman is pretty much a Margarito in that sense, Lewis H2H would not have punched himself out like that, he would have tried to sit behind the jab and set up that long right hand, and Ali did have a habit of pulling straight back.
if fraizer could deposit Ali on the canvas I am sure Lennox will thread something through that does the same question is does Ali get up from that?

    he's no. 1 H2H.

the most difficult fights are Holmes and Vitali. he beats them, but they would be difficult style wise.

some are going for louis to beat him? that's shocking! lewis would stretch him in 2 or 3 rounds. it's not even competitive. but hey, it is eastside boxing forum.

I'm not saying he had a bad chin because he clearly didnt but it wasnt that great either.

He was knocked out twice in his prime, that has to count against him in H2H scenarios, especially when facing massive punchers.

Vitali didnt really have him in much trouble in the 2nd, he looked more bothered by Bruno tbh.

Who would I favour over Lewis?

    Ali
    Louis
    Tyson
    Foreman.

I reckon fights against Holmes and Holy are 50-50.

Holy pushed him all the way when past his best whilst Lewis was at his very best. Figures a better version of Holy does better and better than 7-5 is 6-6 or 5-7. Tough fight to call.

Holmes is tough to call both are multi dimensional and a fight between the two really could go either way. Both can fight at any range and have a great array of punches.

Eventually I'd settle on a winner for the latter two but for the purpose of this thread it isn't necessary. Long and short is I rate Lewis top 5 h2h.

holmes i agree causes lewis some problems with his movement and jab, but lewis wouldn't be denied in that fight. he's push to make holmes uncomfortable.

the holyfield that used to move around a lot would lose wider than the later one that lewis did fight. lewis would just take center ring and pick him off trying to step in. holyfield would be off balance too much.

holyfield had lots of success trying to time lewis' jab and using the counter. he also had good success stepping in with his own shots after timing lewis' jab when he had his rhythm and his feet in position. the holyfield that used to move a lot would have far too many problems with the jab. it would mess his rhythm, and his timing up. holyfield would just end up getting frustrated and ragged making it easier for lewis. the later evender was much smarter. i'd be surprsed you don't agree.

foreman had no boxing skills what so ever. the guy couldn't even throw a straight punch for crying out loud. he's far too easy to hit for someone like lewis. total mismatch. he'd be kept at distance and easily taken apart.

joe louis? i'm not even going to go there.

tyson would be timed coming in. that would be easier than a lot of people think.
when tyson rushes in too quick? he gets tied up and frustrated. tyson would just end up throwing his punches too far out of range and be hit with the uppercut. lewis stops him between 8 and 10.

lewis is a nightmare style for ali. that jab would do all the work. and with the big right hand behind it? jesus!
lewis is the better technical boxer here. he's got the range so ali would have to step into the danger area far more than he'd like to.
lewis would just need to keep walking him down. i don't really see this as being competitive at all. ali is easy to hit as well, so lewis wouldn't have any difficulty finding him. especially with his size and reach.

35 year old unfit Mercer who fought like a poor mans Tyson almost beat Lewis and was able to land over 350 shots.

Prime Mike destroys any version of Lewis

you could do that with any fighter in history. they have a harder time than they should. plus, that was the best mercer i'd ever seen. he was smoking that night.

i suppose you think anyone better than douglas would beat tyson? or anyone better than shmeling would beat louis? didn't think so!

    Mercer fought better against Morrison.

Tyson 85-88 blows Lennox out. He was too top heavy and had bad balance to compete with one of the fastest and hardest hitting HWs the sport has ever seen.

Tall stiff fighters who popped out the jab were the fastest to crumble.

mercer fought better when against lewis when you factor in the quality of the opposition. morrison was no where near the level of lewis.

how many fighters as good as lewis did tyson blow out?

yeah, because lewis was just a run of the mill tall fighter that would of crumbled against the awesomeness of tyson. get with it will you.

I don't see anything that Holy could do better in 99 than in 91.

Foreman has little aesthetic skill, but he has great footwork for a big guy, he has a solid chin and unorthodox defence and a very high workrate. He's gonna force his way inside and I see no way Lewis wins a firefight with him.

So you concede my pick for Louis, fair enough.

Tyson is too hard to pick against. Lewis can be timed and very few in history time a punch better than Iron, if anyone is slipping under that jab and landing a huge hook it is he.

Ali, easy to hit? I didn't really read anything after that. Feel like I wasted my time replying to you now tbh.

I put Lewis in my top 5. Do you not agree he is in the top 5?
