I don't agree with the basic premise of what my position was there but I have answered this one before. Schaefer turned down the $1 million in negotiations. Why write up a contract when the negotiations fail. When terms are agreed you set them down into contract form. This is the first sign that the 'offer' from GBP was bogus. It didn't involve negotiations. You don't start from a contract and negotiate from there. You come to an agreement first, set it down in contract form and both sides make sure it is 'as agreed' before signing. Manny felt the price was low for the biggest fight in boxing in a generation. At that point he was probably right. Here is the difference. No one believes the Donaire/Mares fight was worth over $4 million. Let alone over $6 million, the supposedly upped ante. Arum is an attoney and has pointed out the deficiencies in the offer. I have seen no one with legal expertise call him on ANY of the points he made. He point blank said the lawyers were working on it and the Mares fight would be revisited after the Rigo fight. Not a lot left for Nonito at the weight if he beats Rigo so this was a perfectly reasonable response since Mares turned their offer down. Mares didn't get what he wanted when he wanted it and left the division. He made his choices and he will be the one to live with them. One more thing most are missing here. There were negotiations on many of these points. You think it is an accident that GBP left out the ones TR considered most important? Nope. It was calculated. They knew that offer would be rejected out of hand because they already knew what TR would agree to.
Nonito laid out who he wanted this year. #1. Mares. Declined #2. Rigo Accepted when Mares declined. I know John was one and I forget the other. So, he plans on staying the year. We already know he won't fight Garcia. This has been stated. They share a coach. Gamboa? The roider at 130? :rofl

Huh? I thought TR/Nonito said the offer of 3 million wasn't real.. So GBP then sent out the contract to show it was real... Right? Nobody knows how much Floyd/Pac would have made.. Any amount was guesswork. I highly doubt Pac sat down and worked out the figures then though, I'm not getting paid enough for this at $40 million. He was told by someone he's being robbed, his promoter. I'm sure GBP did the same with Mares. GBP believe the fight is worth that much, as they put up the offer. They've been trying to get this fight for a while... No reason to believe Mares would get the fight next just because they said it.. They were offered 3 million and refused.. Do you think they'll ask for that or more next time? They said if there was anything TR didn't like, they could send a counter offer. TR did no such thing and instead went straight to Rigo, so I have no reason to believe that. But hey, at least we should get the Rigo fight.

This is getting ridiculous. The $3 million offer came on a piece of toilet paper. It was not real. It came attached to a document Arum simply could not sign. What is so friggin hard to understand about this.
While managers may deal with contracts when it gets to $3 million they involve lawyers. But, feel free to ask him for an opinion if you wish.
I sent him a PM asking him if he sees anything wrong with the contract and what he thinks about the situation. And I even mention GBP being free of liability if the pull out the fight since that seemed to be the only argument I saw from anybody on why the contract was bad
Hard for me to keep track of all the deficiencies that were stated. First the date in a month that Nonito says he will not fight in this year. June. A 90 day extension. So basically GBP says the fight will take place in the three months Nonito is taking off? Smell just a tad? No compensation if they keep Donaire out of the ring 9 months and the fight never happens through no fault of Donaire's/TR's. Is there really any need to go further? If you were TR would you sign that 'contract'?
