Floyd fought his fight, and Cotto fought his. The reason why FMJ enjoyed success wasn't because he suddenly decided to start fighting his own way, but because he had to spend 10 or so rounds grinding down an opponent who had a style to hang with Floyd and make things a bit more difficult than other opponents were capable of doing.

Your shitty analysis does a great disservice to all the good work that Floyd did up till the 12th round.:deal

I agree the rounds were competitive, and there was a round (7 if I remember, maybe round 8 ), that Mayweather lost by the widest margin I'd seen him lose in probably a decade.

Cotto has an excellent jab, and that is what kept him in the fight. I think you would agree with me here, but I've always said you need a jab to have a shot at Mayweather. I think Mayweather knew this as well, which is why he nodded his head in acknowledgment to Cotto for landing a solid jab. Mayweather respects skill in the ring.

My comment about the competition seen in the bout was mainly directed at those who continue to say how Floyd got "busted up" by Cotto. It was a good fight, Cotto had his moments and put solid pressure at times, but Mayweather clearly won the bout. I think Cotto wouldn't have seen the final bell in a 15 round match as well.

It was competitive for a Mayweather fight basically. If this was somebody else, it would be viewed as a fairly dominant performance. People just are not used to seeing Floyd with a bloody nose, or losing a round as clearly as he did in the middle of the fight with Cotto.

My thang is this, I have read a lot posters analysis on why it was a competitive fight and most of then were good but I would like to add that the main reason it was competitive is because Cotto was thinking almost the whole fight. He had Floyd flustered a couple of times and really confused in the eighth. That made him feel real good and he got cockey and stopped boxing and started fighting and that's when Floyd started to really getting in that ass. Floyd can be knocked out ( any fighter can ) but if you want to outbox him, you have to out think him.:bbb

Was at work on iPhone . To me it's real simple. The fight really was not all that competitive at all. Cotto's most comfortable when back peddling. Floyd followed Cotto's around the ring and Cotto happened to land a few jabs, a right hand, still got frustrated and tried to resort to his shitty mma tactics. He won 2 rounds and this is suppose to mean the fight was competitive. He was stunned 3 times during the fight while Floyd got a bloody nose. Now this was all because Floyd decided to fight at Cotto's pace and comfort zone all the while being the smaller guy. Cotto was bigger that night and he fought like the smaller fighter. Cotto was less active than Floyd, threw less and still wasn't the more accurate puncher. Now Floyd now before every fight claims he won't move backwards anymore when promoting his last 3 fights. Guess what, he doesn't.

So my point was if Floyd fought the way he usually does haters like you and the OP would still continue the "Floyd's boring" rant. This is nothing but a troll thread with people trying to sound intelligent and act like they know how to analyze fights when it's just a lame attempt to act like Floyd didn't dominate. I gave a half ass reply because I been doing this for years buddy. I will play charades for a minute but then it gets old. Just answer one question for me since this fight was " competitive" and this goes for everybody else who claims the fight was competitive. Would you all like to see a rematch then? Be sure to leave an explanation if so. But the truth is there's no point for a rematch so end this **** thread. Come up with a real topic next time and I promise I'll give more effort.:deal

You forgot the right hand I mentioned to go with all of Cottos highlights. Nice attempt pal and like how you won't answer if you want a rematch. But hey it's all still cute. This thread is dead and buried.:hi::deal

Take a look at your pics and you'll understand why Floyd was troubled at times while Cotto held Floyd hands and pinned him into the ropes. Cotto when forcing Floyd in the corner was smart enough to switch to the southpaw stance and paw with the right jab then shoot left leads to try to exploit Floyd shoulder roll and it's weaknesses against the south paw stance, it only won Cotto 2 rounds though...............

People here don't watch and analyze fights though:bart

There's a lot of butt hurtness in here. Cotto made it competitive as a Mayweather opponent. Even with that in mind Miguel still only won two or three rounds. There were a few rounds where Cotto exerted lots of ineffective aggression, and FLoyd answered by punishing his ass.

That's what happens when you fight a guy that was already ruined twice.

If Floyd is really a 154 lb fighter, put his ass in with Angulo.

That can be his tune up.

100% FACT that Angulo would do even better than Cotto and if Floyd plays on the ropes, he gets stopped.

People are sayin Mayweather fought to please spectators. Now, that's bull****.

I know, most dumb mother ****ers on this site, you included, were sayin Mayweather would go foward cuz "he did that against Ortiz."

Smart people like me, and a few others were sayin, "That's playin into Cotto's gameplan cuz Cotto can box. He's got a good jab."

Floyd isn't stupid, he knew this, but Cotto was strong enough to push him against the ropes and do what he had to do.

Maybe Floyd did go to the ropes and does have his legs, but it was pure strategy. It wasn't for the fans.

IT was because that's where he felt he would do best and he knew Cotto would fade.

    Cotto ALWAYS fades.

    ALWAYS.

Against Mosley, against Margarito twice, etc...

You just started watching boxing, I guess, so you don't know ****, but go back and watch taht ****.

as usualy some of you are grasping at straws and taking a good competitive fight overboard.

Cotto had a great showing of himself....but he won 3 rounds out of 12....not exactly a close fight here

    I can tell.
Here's a clue you're lame, so stop trying to sound like an authority on boxing when no one takes your trick ass seriously. On your best day you're the female who mouths off, gets cracked, and then calls your boyfriend.

Your only skill is making a fool of yourself just like every time you break your piggy bank for a prostitute but can't figure out how to use a condom.

 Shut the **** up son you are one of the shittiest most biased posters on this site. You're obsessed with bashing Pac and talking Floyd up. You don't know **** about boxing, stop pretending. Slickstar makes good observations and appreciates the nuances.
