So does Soliman become the #2 or 3 MW now? Martinez, Geale, Soliman? I mean he beat Sturm which is the best win on Geale's exquisite resume.

Bit shocking to see him lose to such a boxer tbh. It's nice too see him on the short end of close decisions for once though.

I didn't watch, but does anyone feel like this might've been a set-up for the all Aussie showdown?

Soliman, inexplicably, was already the #1 IBF mandatory. Sturm managed to secure a fight and have Soliman risk his mandatory status which Gary Shaw had already bought for another OZ superfight. Sturm's plans backfired once again

Soliman doesn't draw. Geales not known to pull in very good ratings on ppv but that will change now with all the media attention his fight on Wednesday has given him. Also Soliman used to be Geales sparing partner and I know Geales people are not keen on the fight.
I think I answered your question.

    :?

The # of times he got the short end of the stick in close contests > the # of times he came out ahead.

In the SD over Macklin, I scored 115-113 to Macklin but could see a draw easily.

In the draw with Murray, I actually had it 116-112 to Sturm.

In the loss to Geale, I had it 115-113 Sturm.

In the loss to Soliman, I had it 114-113 Sturm.

    ...and of course there's DLH.

So one time. ONE time, it went his way, against Macklin. Out of five close & controversial bouts.

    Thank God.

Sturm now can enjoy all the bad karma brought on him for bribing his way into WBA superchamp status and ducking his mandatory for two years.

Don't know what you saw in the Macklin fight. Macklin beat his ass. I like Sturm, a lot, and I gave him 4 rounds. I doubt I could give him 5. Let alone enough to win the fight.

serves sturm right - a blatant paper champ who had no intention of fighting the best in the division. good riddance to him

I scored Sturm v Macklin 116:112 for Macklin, Geale v Sturm 115:113 for Geale and if I remember correctly, I had Sturm losing his fight against Khoren Gevor as well.

Butt is spot on actually, people are so focused on Macklin, they actually forget that Sturm is not always lucky when it comes to judges. I thought he beat Murray, and the Macklin fight could've been a draw. The Geale fight was actually close, but i spored it for Geale for being busier. So you actually have a chance to get a decision against Sturm in Germany, which is good. Unlike if you're fighting a Sauerland fighter.
I would say it's more safe to fight Sturm in Germany, than it is to fight Alexander in St. Louis

On-topic: Guys wtf just happened? I followed up until the 6-7th round and Sturm was in total control? How the **** did Soliman pull it off? :admin

That's only since he started promoting himself, he used to get more protection under a proper promoter.
