I hate people who are unfavourably nostalgic but come on. Steve Collins was a beast in a far better era than Macklin at a weight division higher. He'd have embarrassed Macklin, never mind Lee and gatekeeper Duddy. Some people need to get a grip. Duddy lost to Billy Lyell in his ****ing prime are ye nuts or what?

For what it's worth, Lee would have beaten Collins in the amateurs imo. Lee is an amateur fighter, Collins was a pro through and through.

Compare their recors before making such a ridiculous statement, Collins fought and beat multiple world champions, Duddy neverereached world class.

Steve Collins was and still is Irelands best at world title level IMO but i sometimes wonder what his career and indeed legacy would have been if Ray Close hadnt had to pull out of "that" fight with Eubank?

Collins would massacre Duddy and Lee. Macklin would be competitive early on but would get stopped as well

Ridiculous statement? Did I say he would of beaten him? Where did I say he reached world class? Where did I say he would of beaten him or achieved more? I think you should read my "ridiculous statement" again and take a bit of time before you reply to it.

And Chavez Jr said after the Duddy fight that he was the toughest fighter he fought.

He hurt his opponent twice in that fight but failed to realise it.
Also he needs to learn to jab more. Would like to see a strength & conditioning coach work on explosive power with him more too.
But great learning experience for him.

Agree, he looked like he was trying to KO him from the first round aswell. Loooked absolutely exhausted from about half way through the third. He's still a bit of a raw talent.
