Kessler gave Joe a hard fight with one hand. Ward destroyed him in only his 5th 12 round fight. Kessler never even came close to winning a round. Kessler already looked like he wanted to quit before headbutt that caused the cut in round 8.
Kessler achieved the best wins in his career after Joe. He is more powerful now than he's ever been. Lacy was pure **** before and after Joe. My left bollok knows more about box than you.
Past prime Kessler who had his greatest attribute (control of distance) severely reduced by an eye injury and then further aggravated by subsequent headbutts during the bout. I think Ward is going to develop into a better fighter than Joe (i lean towards Joe H2H) and has already achieved more than Calzaghe. As for this one particular victory im sorry but Calzaghe's victory is by far and away the better. Its an arguement of prime and past prime, undefeated and already defeated, unshopworn and shopworn. The only thing that can take away from Calzaghe's victory is Kessler's broken hand but in hindsight Joe nearly always fought with hand problems and in this bout Kessler was still throwing said hand with conviction. Not even close...
There's no real argument here to say Ward's win is better. Calzaghe beat the best version of Kessler I disagree that Ward has achieved more than Calzaghe, but otherwise this post is pretty much spot on
Thanks, the Ward - Calzaghe debate is very subjective, im not too offended if someone thinks differently.:good
True, it's a shame people can't just credit one fighter without having to go out of their way to discredit another :-(
But was still throwing with full conviction throughout the bout, thus having very little impact on the ultimate result. I would understand if the discrediting of the victory was for example if Kessler was maybe suffering from double vision and couldnt actually see properly:think. I like Ward but i dont understand this arguement.
It may have appeared he was 'throwing with full conviction' but the fact he had an injured hand no doubt affected him, not saying without the injury he would have won but it's silly to try and ignore it.
Its silly to ignore that Kessler couldnt actually see properly yet a few people seem to be trying to paper over that crack. It goes without saying that despite Kessler losing that was still his best performance to date, he really did produce the goods even with the broken hand. His performance against Ward was that of a shopworn fighter, as fantastic as Ward was that night (headbutts aside) its simply not on par with Calzaghe's performance, the poll results show as much. The only people to have voted for Ward are the same people who dislike Calzaghe with passion, am i not correct?
How can you say that? His eyesight was obviously good because if it wasn't he would not of: Entered the SS Passed the medical exams
