Glass will be shattered if Canelo fights

I'm not sure how hard Canelo hits at 154 because he never fought a legitimate threat yet and Trout would be his first. He couldn't stop an old beyond shot Mosley who was inactive for year and coming off a single punch knockdown against Pacquiao. This fight could be interesting though because of Canelo's style, I would like to see how Trout handles a consistent aggressive fighter with speed.

Canelo is not going to be able to outbox Trout in the middle of the ring. Canelo's only chance is if he somehow limits Trout's movement. Doing that would call for Canelo to work the entire round, something he's shown an inability to really do up until this point. Canelo has the power to hurt Trout, no doubt about it. But does he have the craft it will take to get to that point and finish Austin, while undoubtedly, being behind on the cards.

 

People on these forums overrate Trout's defense, and overall talent really. He definitely got tagged a lot by Cotto, who was not sitting down on his punches at all.

Is he one of the top JMW's in the world? Absolutely. Would I pick him over Alvarez or Lara? Negative.

And I was just about the only Trout fan on this whole forum until the 24/7 with Cotto got people to admire him.

 

Trout-Canelo is a great matchup.

Probably why it won't happen... and I'm sure Trout wants it more than Canelo wants it.

I think your opinion is **** on this if you think that one or the other will clearly dominate the other. They haven't fought the level of competition or style similarities to allow someone to have such a decisive opinion, in terms of one dominating and winning every round off the other one. Everything we've seen points to them being the 1A and 1B top guys at 154 (minus Floyd).

Plus, you really think the cash cow that is Alvarez will not benefit from his drawing power on the judges scores?

 

Why would a "fan" turn his back on a fighter when he finally gets the recognition he deserves by winning a fight he's not expected to win is beyond me. If anything, I would expect a normal fan to be happy his fighter shined under pressure.

The difference between Trout and Alvarez is that Trout is finally tested and proved to be worthy while Alvarez' biggest win/fight remains Lopez(A blown up Welterweight who never had a fight at Junior Middle ever). That said, this fight will be Alvarez' biggest and most dangerous fight to date and both styles can make a very entertaining fight. I would pick Trout to win this fight.

With Lara mentioned, who Alvarez will never ever fight, I pick him over both Trout and Alvarez.

When you're a fan of somebody, it's frustrating to see one day, nobody had ever seen his fights or just the Delvin one, and than the next everybody is riding his jock and treating him like a deadly hero savior to his division. And it's not because people like Trout, it's because they hate Alvarez (at least on ESB, that is the large sentiment I get).

I'd pick Alvarez over Lara. Not because I believe he is so much better, but because he will throw much more punches and land more, while having the preferential treatment of the judges' scores if they were to not be neutral.

my guess, canelo alvarez by (t)ko over austin trout will be a +600 which means that vegas oddsmakers give you a one in six chance of not being lifetime banned here on the esb forums.

 

Alvarez is 100% among the Klitschkos, Mayweather, Pacquiao, Ward, and Donaire in that a large percentage of ESB'ers use hatred to cloud actual skill/achievement. Nobody is claiming Alvarez is a top 20 P4P fighter. He is not overrated. Not his fault people want to watch him fight and therefore, he generates a lot of revenue.

 

The THREAT of a legit boxer and how he handles a punch are two different things. Trout might be legit but it's possible Canelo can still hurt him.

 

Trout doesn't hit hard enough to earn Canelo's respect.

He beat Cotto largely because he was much bigger than Cotto (and could thus push Cotto back whenever Cotto was in close range), and also because Cotto gassed badly in the last 3 rounds (again.)

Canelo is much bigger and stronger than Cotto, has longer arms, is taller, and also possesses superior handspeed, power, and a much more effective lead/counter right than Cotto does. That would pay big dividends against Trout.

Trout basically doesn't have the craft or the power to keep Canelo at a distance, nor does he have the strength to manhandle him away the way he did Cotto.

Trout's speed and movement are also overrated; if he was the boxing wizard half the forum would have you believe, he wouldn't have been getting tagged repeatedly and in a competitive fight with Cotto until Miguel's late round fade.

Canelo is not going to have a problem hitting him, just as Cotto didn't. The difference is Trout won't possess the big physical advantages he did against Cotto, nor will he be able to shrug off hits from Canelo the way he did from Cotto.

He'll have to get on his bike and spoil most of the fight if he doesn't want to get TKO'd. Canelo by UD or TKO.

 

:good It's amazing what one fight does to change the perception towards a fighter. Trout went from "not impressive" to "Pernell Whitaker".
