    On the sene.

Khabib [18-0, KO 8] is the WBA/IBO 140 pound champ. Coming off wins over Mabuza and Guzman last year.

Reportedly will fight on the Rios/Alvarado II undercard. Potentially against Karim Mayfield.

If true, looking like a set up for winner of Rios/Alvarado II vs. winner of Khabib/Mayfield.

    ---

Top Rank desperately needed a 140 pound guy with some value. Golden Boy has dried much of the well.

    Thoughts?

    You think so?

How would you liken him in a match with Karim Mayfield? Would you think it was a stepping stone for bigger things or a foreign titlist being fed to the companies' actual investment?

Im not a fan of Mayfield boxing style. He's unquestionably gifted athletically with good power but the excessive holding/clinching has to stop. I'd like to see him throw more combinations ala Khan instead of repeatedly loading up with that right hand. As for Khabib, he can bang despite what his KO % indicates. Offensively, he's the more fluid fighter, likes to mix it up to the head and body and has good enough counter punching skills to cause Mayfield some problems.

I favor Khabib by decision or possibly late TKO.

IMO, Khabib gives any top 140 pounder a run for their money.

Allakhvierdev is a careful killer, I can see him taking advantage of the sloppy fighting of Karim.

I wouldn't mind seeing Allakhverdiev against anybody in the top 5.
Hopefully now that he's with top rank, Arum can get him in the ring with Rios if/when they win their next bout.

That'd make a tiny bit of sense if this was Oscar De La Hoya. TR has a mix of international boxers.
