Foreman vs. Tyson!...Clash of the warriors...Holy the next best thing!?..

Just didn't want the fight. Probably didn't feel good about it.

Happens all the time in boxing.

George Foreman is dangerous, and both times he fought for the heavyweight title after his comeback, he did so desperately, throwing big combinations as hard as he could with prolific use of his incredible jab. I would NOT want to defend against a challenge like that: Massive, incredibly heavy handed, possibly the best jab in the division, and hungry.

Old George was never the best heavyweight alive, but there weren't many who were more risky or dangerous.

 

You saying Tyson wouldnt have been risky and dangerous in that fight?:huh

 

Same reason Frazier's people kept him clear of an old Liston , big risk little reward.
Stylistically both old guys would be in the hunt , come forward, smaller men dont usually fare well against bigger , heavy hitting bombers.

 

I just think he is saying Tyson didnt want to risk it.

Plus everyone would have thought that Tyson would blow him out of the water..so it would kind of be a lose lose (other than the money of course).

Tyson never paid Foreman any step aside money. It was Lewis and that was so he could fight Holy for 30m$+

fight the winner of Moorer/Foreman (1994).....Tyson was in ****ing prison then!

The whole 'Tyson said you fight him' was quoted by someone who heard someone who was there when Tyson allegedly said it. Its about as true as Green Fairies.

 

Foreman was never the unified champion when Tyson came out. Tyson went after the belts and he got them from Seldon and Bruno and Moorers IBF title was next, but Holyfield ruined the plans.

Holyfield was more of a prioirty fight, legacy and financial wise.

You need to catch up on your facts

Instead of calling Tyson out (a guy just released from prison) Why didnt Foreman call out Bowe or Lewis...or even Holmes?

 

AS i seem to recall, Foremans comeback was viewed as some sort of curiosity Circus Sideshow, as he rolled along, something to keep us entertained whilst waiting for the serious stuff, but when he dispatched Gerry Cooney, with a brutal shot on the Turn.....some of the the boxing Media were not quite so quick to dismiss his chances against Tyson....perhaps the Tyson camp did their own re'evaluation ?

 

Foreman Moore took place November 5, 1994 Tyson got out of prison a little later and fought McNeeley on August 19, 1995. So yes Foreman was in prison..but prison isn't like the chamber the villains were kept in in Superman III. I mean...they could have still had talks about Tyson fighting one of them. But regardless of whether or not talks were underway than, the truth is that Foreman fought Bruno in March of 96 and Seldon in September of 96....during that time Foreman was fighting (not allot, but the fight could have been made). Beyond that Tyson could have fought him before Prison...of course he would have gotten more flak for a fight at that point, However, it would have still been a reasonable fight.

 

He had some other decent fights...went through Bert Cooper like hot samurai sword through warm butter.

 

He would have done if Foreman actually fought some none circus show fights, ie fought a top 10 contender and won, which I don't believe he did until Moorer

Those were tune ups after he was in prison, pre-prison he cleaned out the top10 pretty much, bar a name or 2

 

most of his post prison run was guys who were tune up fights (or meant to be) Bruno? Seldon? Bruno was at least basically legit, as he had beaten McCall..Seldon? but in position by King....Holyfield...everyone thought he was totally shot and due to have a heart attack in the ring.

I will consed that Tyson more or less fought everyone he could before prison (other than holy and foreman of course..but at least holy they were trying to make the fight...) But Foreman would have still been a reasonable fight..and it would have been big money...
