Yes, it was. But until an announcement, one can hope against reason the Mayweather will fight a decent opponent more than once every five years. He's given us: Oscar -- good opponent, meh fight. Smaller guy Way smaller guy (and pissed on the catchweight) Old guy Ortiz -- young and unskilled, but not a horrible opponent Cotto -- good opponent; great fight. Looks like he's going to go back to a smaller guy run.
floyd is nicknamed "money" for a reason, and fighting a negative, unpopular devon alexander on the eve of mexican independence day is fiscally counterintuitive when considering on the other side of the coin awaits a suddenly viable, popular mexican american who he can perhaps rake in tens of millions against. The fight has obviously yet to be finalized, but decisions like this are what give skeptics ammunition for the slighting of floyd's choice of opponents, and more so, his general willingness to face the best available opposition.
I am saying it now the fight will do over a Mil. this is a real life Rocky folks will come out the wood work just to hope money will lose.
I don't believe this fight will happen. Devon Alexander won't bring any fans, and it'll do **** numbers. Somebody like Guerrero would at least pull in the mexican fans. I think Floyd's bullshitting probably but who knows.
