Probably because he was told to lose, and he's trying to find a way out of it. I.E. - if they find someone else to artificially further Mitchell's career, Banks is off the hook for a while. In fact, if Mitchell then "beats" three or four more decent opponents, when he finally does have the rematch with Banks, it will be a much better payday for both of them. Boxing is what it is.
Apparently Golden Boy will elevate the WBC super middleweight eliminator, between Sakio Bika (30-5-2, 21 KOs) and Nikola Sjekloca (25-0, 7 KOs), to the televised co-feature slot.
Not bad. They just replaced a fight that would likely only go a few rounds with what looks like an almost certain distance bout, though. Broner will get the KO, though.
I just read tha Bryant Jennings said he'd be willing to step in for Banks for the same money they paid Banks or Witherspoon. I like that fight but I'm skeptical it happens.
