Latin fight fans care about Cinco de Mayo. Floyd knows this. There is only one strategic advantage involved in declaring Alexander the frontrunner if this is really true. Wouldn't he also want to knock down Devon's price if he were really considering him? He's simply "negotiating" with Guerrero using Alexander's name.

Put a Latin fighter in the ring on Cinco de Mayo and do more numbers. Tried and true.

p.s. Canelo would be making A LOT more than 4 million dollars.

Latin fighters whom are known, not randoms like Guerrero. :dead

The ONLY reason why Guerrero would be considered is because he puts on a more interesting/exciting fight for the crowd and that could in a way boost Floyd's rep in the long run, not because Guerrero affects PPV sales.

I'm sure Mayweather's team knows how dull Alexander's fighting style is, full of clinching/holding/passive fighting.

Guerrero is a brawler, someone who loves to get in your face and make the fight a dirty one.

That's the ONLY reason why he's being considered.

    Guerrero: FACTS

    1. Never headlined a PPV in his life
    2. Headlined 2 small events. Guerrero vs Berto, Guerrero vs Aydin
    3. No one knows him outside of Gilroy

Yup Canelo is an attraction in his own right. Unlike Guerrero/Alexander.

If Guerrero signs to fight Floyd on Cinco de Mayo, his exposure among Latin fans would immediately go through the roof. Don't underestimate Mayweather's ability to sell a fight.

One thing you are out of tune and underestimate are Mexicans and Boxing, when it is announced that Mayweather is fighting a Mexican (even if he is from California) that Mexican flag will make us come out in droves. Floyd is smart enough to know this......Trust me, Manny Pacquiao is the star that makes more money, but when he fights Marquez it's Marquez that is the home team, and 90 percent of arena is Mexican.

Guerrero will bring out the Raza, not just Gilroy, but the Bay Area fans that consider him Local....as well as Mexicans from all over.

Mexicans are die hard when it comes to boxing, if a dude is Half-Mexican he will have Raza supporting him, we love our boxers, call us tribal by nature.

Guerrero against Mayweather, especially right after what he did to Berto will sell.

Mayweather vs Alexander on 5 de Mayo? :rofl Yeah that will go well with the raza, who are his fans St Louis??? and thats it.......California, Bay Area, Southern California, Central Valley, we will all support and root for Guerrero.

Doubt it, Alvarez would be the star Mexican/Latin attraction.

I never underestimated Mayweather's ability to sell a fight. I'm saying that Guerrero and Alexander are both fodder, can be disposed of because Alvarez/Mayweather would be stealing the show.

There's no room for Alexander or Guerrero. Either one can show up and it would not affect PPV Sales.

4 million is chump change for Mayweather, and Guerrero people shot down the overpricing rumors. All signs point to this stunt being used to enticed JMM or Canelo who has yet to have an opponent lined up, into lowering their price.......

If Mayweather wanted to **** people off boy ole boy did he succeed, I woke up looked at the tv yesterday and :verysad hoping that it was espn spewing TR propaganda once again:lol:

He should blow Floyd for that much. I doubt Guerrero has ever come close to a million dollar purse.

Central Valley, Cali, Bay, Gilroy, etc will be supporting Alvarez, not Guerrero. When Guerrero fought Berto, not many shits were given. Fans weren't storming to see him.

Yeah the Mayweather fight will generate way more hype but still, it won't be as ground breaking as you make it out to be. Even in the Ortiz fight, there were good Ortiz fans, but nothing like Hatton, nothing like a DLH, nothing like an Alvarez, nothing like a JMM.

Alexander also has a good # of fans. Like the previous poster said. A Bradley/Alexander event sold out and did good #'s.

Alexander/Mayweather could do surprising #'s. Not great numbers, but not **** ones either.

You keep comparing Guerrero to Alvarez. Canelo is obviously the more lucrative option. That's not really up for debate.

I'm comparing Guerrero and Alexander and telling you that on Cinco de Mayo, Guerrero is clearly the better choice.

He's the better choice only because he's more exciting, not because he is a better fighter than Alexander.

As far as I'm concerned. Alexander's entire resume shits on Canelo's and Guerrero's

As for PPV sales, Guerrero being Mayweather's opponent is no different from Alexander being Mayweather's opponent.

It will not affect PPV sales. There would not be more hype for the fight if Ghost was his opponent because he is not better than Alexander.

Ghost, coming from California, being a Mexican American boxer will not have any big impact ON PPV sales because no one knows him and this "exposure" you guys keep talking about will do close to nothing to impact sales.

The guy has no story to sell, he's also not exactly a top elite boxer either and no one knows him.

Even on Cinco De Mayo, Guerrero being an American with a Mexican Heritage will do NOTHING because he is not known.

You can't just put some random Mexican on there and think it's going to do big business, that's not how it works.

There's a fine line between having expectations and just being overzealous.
