The whole thing stinks to me, I think GB may have played a part. Hopefully I'm wrong and they and IBF force Alexander to face Brook like we were all promised. Mayweather vs Alexander (regardless of the Brook situation) would be a crime against nature!
I think that the word "warrior" is going to get overused over the next few weeks without everyone weighing in with it
Mosley held a title, but Mayweather refused to pay the sanctioning fees. The titles matter to Floyd when it suits him. Alexander doesn't bring the credibility that Mosley does.
To say Alexander, a guy who has consistently faced better opposition than Kell Brook, is a coward is just pathetic. Delete this post and try again.
Said this on another thread. Why dont the IBF investigate the injury claim? or any organisation. If a fighter pulls out of a fight at relatively short notice, then specualtion/discussions are made around another fight, I mean c'mon even khan/fury could work that one out. It stinks and is pretty obvious. Investigate the injury cant be difficult and may reduce the amount of fighters doing it.
Pulling out of a fight last minute because you don't fancy it any more after giving it all the big talk for months beforehand? That is cowardly I'm afraid. You clearly haven't been in many fights have you so I assume you don't know how it works.
I know what your saying but not sure cowardly is really the right word, especially if instead you go onto fight the best fighter in the division considered P4P#1. It's very desrespectful but only to be expected these days! Then again If it was you would you want the opportunity to fight the P4P#1 , you might not get the chance again?
Alright, maybe not cowardly but certainly under-handed and dishonourable. It would be a different situation if he and Brook were only at purse bids or something and he ****ed Kell off then. That I would understand completely, there would have been no deal agreed. The fact is though is that he signed a contract to face Brook and both have been training their arses off for months in preparation (well at least Kell has). Fans have spent hundreds, maybe even thousands to go over and see the fight live. Now he goes and pulls something like this. Not a professional's way of doing things, that's my opinion anyway. If Alexander values his integrity with hardcore fans then he'll agree to have the fight re-scheduled when his injury heals (assuming he even has one!).
Yep, totally agree, It goes against what boxing is about. I dont actually believe he has an Injury...It stinks but it's boxing!
If the Mayweather fight happens, why are you blaming Alexander so much? Mayweather and his team are the ones manipulating the whole thing. What's Alexander to do? Turn down the biggest purse he will EVER make (probably more than he would earn in 3 years as a fighter off his own back)? A fight that he is expected to lose? A fight that should he lose, it won't affect his career one iota apart from making him known to more casuals? Yes, the situation is dishonourable and blatantly wrong but it happens. It happens when you allow one fighter to be bigger than the sport, allow him to show blatant disregard for titles and allow him to cherry pick opponents at the tail end of his career.
