Are these contracts unfair? Yes they are, but then the K bros are the top fighters and along with Haye and maybe Adamek the only heavyweights that have any kind of real fan base that generates them money. Haye was able to negotiate a 50/50 split because he bought money and leverage to the table. Something few other fighters in the division can do.

When you're the top predator you feast on those below you, it's the nature of the sport. I don't like the contracts or how the division has turned out during the Klits reign but it's not all their fault.

Where are the young hungry contenders making a name for themselves and generating interest in the division? Go back to the previous era, non american heavies like Tua, Ibeabuchi, Golota all made names for themselves, became top contenders by facing other undefeated fighters or top contenders and with the exception of Ike earned there shots and got paid handsomely for it because they came in to a title fight with some leverage, instead of a non existent following and a record filled with unknown opposition.

Now contenders fight nobodies and never build a real big following so when they get a title shot they have no leverage whatsoever. Can't blame the Klits for taking advantage of the situation. While it's not an admirable thing to do and can't be really defended it can be rationalised, boxing is a business.

It's a unique situation having two brothers ruling the HW scene for so long. Rahman had to fight Lewis next fight because of a rematch clause and if Lewis had had a brother ruling another belt he'd have had to fight him also and then Lewis again, so ****ing what.

Both of the Bros are getting old now. Won't be long and we will be rid of them both for good. Terrible past couple of decades for heavyweight boxing. One ruler was cut to ribbons by an old Lennox Lewis the other has been blown away a couple of times. Sanders and Brewster showed that WK was a big fighter who liked dishing it out but was terrified to get hit. The other brother was far tougher. Quite scary to think that a morph of both brothers would have been probably the best heavyweight ever. :good We will probably have a few years of Eastern Europeans, fat Americans and some over-hyped British fighters jostling for the crowns until the next Messier comes along. :D

    Absolutely disgusting contract demands.

And Klit fans still try and defend it.

    Pathetic people.

Interesting, haven't heard that before. Byrd never mentioning it and the brothers aren't tooting their own horn.

The Klitschkos do deserve the majority of the purse, there's no doubting that. The issue is with stupid things like fines for not attending press conferences or the absurd three fight deal, which means the opponent has to face both brothers. These deals are unprecedented in boxing history, and they are grossly unfair.

If Mayweather had a clause which said "if you don't turn up wherever I say, I will fine you or cancel the fight" or he had it written into the contracts that if the opponent beat him, he'd have to face another Golden Boy fighter, that would be unfair and people would complain about it.

The issue here isn't just that the Klitschkos offer poor money to their opponents. That is a problem, but it's a whole load of other things too.

This. I don't like how the ones calling the shots in their respective divisions abuse their positions, but it is a reality of boxing. The people who only critisize the Klits for it are hypocritical. Same stuff is going on with Mayweather and every top dog in every division.

If you reach the top, you will call the shots and maximize your income. That is how boxing throughout all divisions works.

they could not get away with that sort of contract with haye:bart theses guys need to man up and tell them where to stick thier contracts ,boycott them both if needs be.
champions need challengers specially if they anit prepared to fight one another

The thing is this is NOT maximizing income.

Wlad made his biggest pay day when he split 50/50.

I suspect it was 3 more fights before he matched that figure.

Vitali was KO'd by Britains Pele Reid and battered by Britains Lennox Lewis.

As this video shows....british fighters have Vitali Klitscko running.

Maybe true. But I also heard that some boxers said the Klitschkos treat them awesome and they make A LOT more money being a sparring partner for them instead of pursuing their own pro career.
