First time I watched I thought Cotto won, maybe it was because I highly rate body punching and he done so much better than expected that I was giving him close rounds. One thing I think we learned is that Mayweather is past prime and should fight at WW.
I had it 8-4 for Floyd. I almost had it 7-5 for Floyd. Thats as close as I could have it. However, Cotto did make almost EVERY round extremely competitive. It was a unique fight to score imo. I can't think of another fight that was SO damn competitive for all rounds yet the scorecard had a clear winner. Very strange **** indeed.
And Mayweather won every round against JMM who's beaten Pacquiao several times. Those type of arguments mean nothing in terms of who would win if Mayweather and Pacquiao fought.
:good cotto only won 3 rounds, the only effective consistent punch that he did land was his jab, thats it. Cotto's jab was really good, when mayweather was on the ropes it was the only punch that cotto could land from time to time. The body work that people keep talking about was all blocked at best. And the HBO commentary just sort of clouded the issue, but Steward (rip) had to shut Lampley up by enforcing the fact that cotto's body work was being blocked parried. Mayweather may have loss a step on his reflexes and loss a couple of steps on his legs, but his defensive skills are as sharp as ever. The interesting thing though was that people tend to forget about the CLEAR body work MAYWEATHER was doing, which helped to set up headshots. Cotto wanting the bigger glves, normal size for that weight, did him good on defense to the head. Cotto was pissing blood after the match. We must keep all these in mind.
The fight was competitive and entertaining. It may sound funny, but it was a good loss for Cotto. It would have been a tainted win. Although I agree that he was pretty much competitive in most rounds, the most I think anyone could give him is 5 rounds. Cotto was more competitive than people thought, but I think it may have just been a tough fight, I didn't see any evidence of Floyd slowing down. I also think Floyd didn't stop Cotto because he had too much respect for him, and he didn't feel comfortable going all out to stop him when he was rightfully ahead on the scorecards, and a little fatigued.
yup. People hate him so much, that they must do this. The fight was not close, it was 1 sided, but competitive, a loss, which cotto can walk away from with his head held high for sure though.
he won the fight but *****s still think he beats manny atsch cotto was shot before he stepped in the ring with floyd
yeah this the thing Cotto's body punches were bein blocked 75% of the time but he was just throwin combos down there sometimes so it looked like some were landin, i think people were actually scorin that, the only punch Cotto landed quite alot was the jab it really wasnt a close fight it just wasnt as one sided as people thought it would be
It was a close fight because the rounds were fairly competitive for a Mayweather fight, not the rounds themself.
