Well the 70s, there was limited boxing on TV, in the era of Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Foster, Monzon and Duran we were rarely got it live on TV, indeed with the exceptions of the Heavies we did not even get highlights. Closed Circuit was the only way to watch talent like that. The 80s was a lot better, particularly when ITV went 24 hours a day, and started showing whole American bills live. The 90s was the peak, live shows on ITV, sometimes the BBC; boxing on the likes of Seconds Out, Midweek Sports Special, Big Fight Special, Sportsworld Extra, Sportsnight and Grandstand, and the best the USA had to offer on SKY. But that magical era of free big fights (British and American), but for a short period in the 80s, has not happened in Britain, and probably never will again.
Yes, without a shadow of a doubt. Nice crisp HD picture, a few mates, a few beers, IMO you'd be mad not to pay the few quid for this! **** linking up a shitty stream to the TV and worrying it's going to drop out when the first bells goes.
This is the big thing for me, well actually im going round to my brothers to watch, but if i was ordering it myself, if it was a quality undercard then yeah i would stump up, bu Hearn is now talkiing about having frampton on May 11th along with possibly Barker-Lee, so that rules out 2 fights that could have been on. I can honestly see them relying on the champs league final as an undercard, have one big name v nobody (a couple of prospects on first) then the main event - that aint worth £15 to me.
I am disgusted that PPV is making a comeback I object to it on principle and resent paying for it. I also find it pretty ironic that Froch moaned for years that he wasnt "mainstream" and didn't have a high profile yet now he voluntarily removes himself from the publi eye to maximise profit. Poor show. That said I will pay for it because I am not watching a stream on a laptop when I can wath it on HD on a 50 inch telly.
People who shed out **** loads of money every month for Sky TV (which is basically just all repeats) should not have to fork out another £15 for a fight. They are taking the ****, people know that, but still pay for it through the nose? Wake up.
It's not a PPV fight IMO so I will not be paying for it. I also have no qualms watching it elsewhere though.
I have no qualms paying for sky sports because there is pretty much something i would watch every night. There is normally some sort of football on every night bar thursday, but then there is the premier league darts that night. Ringide every week and 3 fight cards every 2 months. Plus we get the loaded fights via sky. Super league etc Then there is other sports that i am not that interested in like tennis, a **** load of cricket, wwe, and bloody formula 1. Plus a lot of american sport, so for however much you pay, you are getting decent value IMO.
But flip that on its head and people who pay £90+ a month for Sky are paying for a load of **** they never watch (myself included), so why not get a few mates together and pay for a fight we've been desperate to see?! If you're paying for all that **** you never watch then surely you'd pay a few quid for something you really want to see?
Hello Rupert, how are you today? I remember when it was £40 for all the channels on the tv, phone and internet. Could probably just about get internet for that now. I suppose if your sat in all day, you could watch everything, thing is, some people aint, and watch maybe 1-2 hours, its not like they need to rush back, because it all gets repeated anyway and even the repeats get repeated on all that on demand sky+ crap. Some people are forking out upwards £100 and more every month for this service, and are still expected to fork out another £15 for a fight. I feel sorry for those people myself.
I will be paying, certain fights you dont want to take the chance with streams. Happy to pay £15 for HD quality picture with problems for this fight
It is ironic, you are absolutely spot on IMO. I'll be watching BoxNation's answer or channel 5's. Such a shame, mainly because it isn't going to be the fight people expect. Hope the undercard is brilliant, but if it is, it is detracting from Matchroom's contracted cards. The cards I signed up with Sky for. Froch is way too overrated imo.
