Im 17, started boxing september last year so 5 months. I done it because its my passion and I wanted to compete, a bonus was it has really improved my physique and confidence, heres some before and afters in only 5 months, I could do with some opinions and advice on how to improve further as my body has stopped improving so dramatically in the past month. Before - Untensed After - Tensed After - Untensed http://www.flickr.com/photos/78994200@N03/ (keep pressing the right arrow key, theres about 17 photos if im correct) I dont do weights, maybe 12 reps on a pushup bar 3 times a week. 30 sit ups 3 times a week, for some reason my left pec is underdeveloped. Ive seen little progress in my abs for 1-2 months now, when I started I was 61kg and skinny, now im 65-66 and quite tones. Opinions and advice on how to keep improving would be appreciated.
Aesthetics dont matter in boxing but what is your diet like? U need a high protein diet more high intensity resistance traing to put on lean muscle. And if you want to put on big muscle high protein and carb (low gi) diet and big lifting. Try the 5x5 ( 5 sets , of 5 reps of squats, deadlifts, shoulder press, chins and bench). Keep it heavy. Be carefull this takes a lot out of u and isnt really recommended for a fighter. Plus your only young. Only do it 3 days a week. Its good for packing muscle. Thats how i put on 2 stone in 2 years. Im sure some smartass on here will fault this advice but it worked for me mate, done properly. Your only young so dnt worry to much your muscles will develop in time.:good
I just realized that I just clicked on a link sending me to look at pictures of a shirtless boy standing front of a mirror....
Carbs don't need to be a specific GI, it's a flawed concept. GI is determined when feeding carbohydrates to fasted individuals in isolation, when you add meat and olive oil for example to a carb source, you can just disregard it entirely. It also completely ignores glycemic load, which is theoretically what you should be more bothered about. As for high protein, it depends how high you're talking tbh.
Like i said some smartass will flaw my comment. . 2kg of protein per 1kg of bodyweight is a good start. Im just saying what works for me. If i eat shitty carbs i get a belly , if i eat good (sweet pots , squash , brown rice) at the right times (post training) the belly keeps at bay. Im not some smartass wannabe nutritionist. Ive just learnt what works through years of practical trial and error on myself. A lot of guys will prob be more efficiant on here but just helping out.:good
Thanks for the advice so far guys on getting in BETTER shape, but as for now has my body developed well in 5 months? is it a good Boxers body?
different boxers look different ways....you dont really look like a boxer...but....5 months isnt really that long..and boxing workouts dont necessary make you look as good as say, a body building workout will.
You're body is not developed at all. You are still a kid by the looks of it, dont worry about how you're body looks, focus on training and becoming a well rounded boxer and all you will find yourself in good shape without worrying about what you look like in the mirror!
Well since you are not a bodybuiler and a boxer. Make it your goal to make your body perform as a boxer. And start to hit some weights.
Yes, everyone who weight around 70kg should take 140kg of protein daily. You mixed up the g's and the kg's For TS. Body dont matter when it comes to fighting. Everyone goes to sleep if you punch them on the chin no matter how buff they are. Keep training to get those skills, body will come along with it depending on the level how serious you are with this boxing.
Is the goal to build muscle or purposely get fat? Your statement is very broad. I agree that what you eat in particular isn't very important, but just saying eat whatever a lot is just a lazy way of going about things.
